Why did you not just deinstall the last installed app? Problem started with miracast app or not?
Problem started with miracast. Everything was working like a charm. Then i tested the miracast app that came with the box installed. when i disconnected my phone that i connected to miracast the crash message came..
Can i somehow reinstall the box software from usb?
Easy, end of earth is not coming Read my post with factory reset and do FR.
lol, i tried that before. Now i tried again and now it did work! thank you.
Now i wont try mircast again haha
By the way if you alrready setup your box again, format your usb with rufus like in how to (see article), maybe this solves also your subtitle problem.

Hi, can I recover my z8 using a USB as it doesn't boot up at all, just red light. If I can flash or recover my box where would I find the relevant files ?
Yes recovery solution as I can't get my box past the red light, won't boot up at all.
Formuler Z8 - Recovery Instructions
Built-in Factory Reset:
*Factory resetting the device will delete all user data and restore the system back to factory state.
1. Remove power from the device.
2. Re-insert power and rapidly press the red button on the remote.
3. The front status light will start to blink red and green.
4. Stop pressing the red button
5. Press 1 on the remote and wait for the reset procedure to complete
6. After the device has been reset, use the Update app to ensure that the latest firmware has been installed.
Only use this method for system recovery (forced reset) on the Z8 models.
👆 This method may not work with older factory firmwares
in that case, use the usb reset method 👇
1. Check update.ird file integrity before proceeding
2. Copy update.ird to USB root
3. Power off device
4. Insert USB into device
5. Power on device while repeatedly pressing the CH-UP button on the RCU. (Don't hold the button down. Press it repeatedly)
6. Update progress bar appears on the screen. Stop pressing the CH-UP button
7. Wait for the progress bar to reach 100%. The device will reboot automatically when finished.
Ignore the file name, unzip and use as usual.
Question: Must i do full wipe after a major update?
Answer: Factory reset can often fix any residing problems. As example, things such as Wi-Fi/Ethernet connectivity, interface, hardware, software and many other problems or sluggish behaviour, can often be fixed with a factory reset if the update did not resolve these issues already.
If you think that your device is running smoothly, without any hindrance after the update, a factory reset is absolutely not necessary.
I recommend this each time after big and major update, but at end should the user always decide if the invested time into FR is ok for him.
Only recommendation: Users with new boxes, should always after first setup process, install all available official updates and at end do once factory reset. After FR set the box again and install all needed apps. If all works fine, then backup (Z8/Z Alpha) on USB Stick or HDD.
Question: Does it make any difference how box works when you do it?
Answer: After factory reset are all settings, included data and apps deleted. Box need to be set fresh (setup process). All databases are reset to factory state. So, if after major update some option doesn`t work well or not at all, this could help.
Question: Is it easy to back up data on Z8 or Z Alpha so you don`t need to download all apps and edit settings again?
Answer: Sure, backup data should be done each time when you are happy with your installation. If something goes wrong you can restore your backup in few minutes. Unfortunately this helps only if you are still on same firmware version.
Means, each time you install new firmware you have to do backup again. Restoring backup data with older firmware on new updated firmware, will not work or should be not restored because of incompatibility.
i did this, but he does no reset
Please try again few times until the reset succeed, timing is also important, see instruction.
my z8 is new and does not restart well after the first update.
concerning the built-in Factory reset, i would have 2 questions :
is the red button the one next to the green button ?
should you keep pressing button 1 or just once ?
thank you so much
Thanks you, i'm going to try again.
