Yes you can use Vpn via app on Z8 or on your router
If you can watch anything from your source VPN isn't going to help

If you can watch any VOD but cano’t play 4K? Check your Internet speed.

Not necessarily.. if this is the case you have not got a VPN that suits your needs. It's all about trial and error and finding what works best for you. What works well for one does not mean that will be the case for all as there are lots of factors to take into account. I understand what you're saying because I too have experienced exactly what you have said. Tried a few though and got one that works well and only get 1-2 Mbps loss maximum.
Is it possible to stop a VPN ( Express to be specific) to delay its attempts at connecting to its servers until the box (Z8 Alpa and Neo) have fully started and connected to the internet....
Whilst the "express app" is trying to connect, it prevents the Box from attaining a wifi connection/IP address from the internet router ( I havent experienced this with an ethernet connection)

Manual connect, I don't use Express but on Nord app you have a choice manual or auto.
Never had a problem on Z8

If you DL the express app, you can get a 7 day trial... You will see what I mean...

check to see if app is set to start on boot.
Please tell me where to look for that setting..

Yes... I have un-installed it several times.. tried the app from several sources... even ran around my garden at midnight with my finger up my "po".... as suggested by a user on another forum.... It didnt work either!! LOL
I will talk with express...
