Dolby Atmos works randomly on Z11 Pro Max - BUT always on the Z8

    Same issue on my side

    Formuler z11 pro max

    LG OLED C1

    via eARC to Sonos Beam Gen 2 with passthrough activated.

    My provider uploads a movie with Dolby True Atmos 7.1 audio track.

    But there is no sound coming out. Also when i press the volume button the volume slider comes up.

    When i switch to a 5.1 audio track, it plays of course the audio. And of course the volume slider DOESNT come up - it just says: audio passthrough is activated…

    Any Suggestions or wrong settings on my side?

  • same Problem here, z11 pro max, there is no dolby atmos sound. z11 is directly connected with the soundbar, surround on, only PCM on the soundbar.

    When i change the box to my z8, full dolby atmos sound is shown on my soundbar.

  • I had Dolby set up working before, Z11 max pro + Sennheiser soundbar. This went ok for a while, then connected my headphones over Bluetooth, after that it never worked over the soundbar. For the record delete the Bluetooth connection and used exactly the same audio / developer audio settings as before. Any one able to give me some advice?

  • All HD Formats and Atmos must go through passthrough.

    Be sure you installed also the Audioptimizer from Market.

  • Hi everyone, I don't understand why the Dolby Atmos is not supported, yesterday I plugged Formuler Z11 and Shield and the result after some tests, the Dolby Atmos was supported on Shield, never on your device.

  • I have the same issue! In the sound settings, surround sound is turned on but it won't let me turn on the sliders/switch for dolby digital! It just stays greyed out! One of the reasons I bought this box was for the sound codecs. I only get stereo pcm

    If anybody has any idea if is possible hear Dolby sounds directly from MAX and PRIME platform.? I bought Z11 max pro and tried all suggestions from this forum and without positive resulting, No efect Dolby sound.

    I have Z11 max pro + Teufel soundbar + Samsung TV.

    I will bevery gratefull for all suggestions

    Which Samsung tv and how did you connect the whole setup with what cables?

  • I have the same issue. The best I've been able to get for anything above 5.1 is multichannel pcm and I'm connecting the Formuler directly to a Q990D soundbar with a new ultra high-speed cable. In the surround settings there are 5 formats listed, Dolby Atmos with Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS and DTS-HD but they're all greyed out. I've tried messing with the developer options and I guess the next step would be to reset the whole thing for the third time due to different issues I've had.

    I've seen plenty of threads here about people having sound issues and it's frankly amazing to see such a lack of support and feedback from developers and moderators. This is not an open source project with volunteers working on a passion project on the side, this is a product we've all paid for which advertises a feature that is clearly not working for number of users. I've seen posts from June last year stating that the devs are working on it. Are they back from their vacation yet? How do we go about getting actual support on this product when something doesn't work? Saying that it should work or "it works for me" isn't an answer.

    I m totally agree with you , i m waiting since last summer the developers fixed the Dolby Atmos issue but still nothing...

    I would prefer they worked on this topic and also made the Z11 more stable with AFR for live TV instead of working on the Game day feature which is really not a priority for me .

  • Yes, one would think that their first priority would be to make a stable product that actually does what is says on the box. I'm not saying this has to be formuler's fault, it can be third party software, the soundbar or any number of other issues, but after the initial honeymoon period, where I've run into one issue after the other, I have to say that my patience and trust in these devs really start to run out.

    It's funny that the only official replies in this thread is three short sentences with no effort whatsoever to offer real support.

  • Well its easy the z11 does not support dolby atmos only dolby digital + atmos aka Netflix atmos not real dolby true HD z8 does this box no

    Be careful only MOL3 internal player is not able to play True HD signal like Atmos or DTS-HD.

    Using external payer like Kodi give you the possibility to read True HD signal with the Z11 box.

    I m totally agree with you, why the internal player from the Z8 using MOL2 is compatible with True HD signals and NOT MOL3....this is something clearly unbelievable!

    I hope the devs will found one day a solution for MOL3 but I m thinking now they will not since I have reported this problem in August 2024 !

  • Am using Formuler boxes for many years, my experience so far is that only after a year or so a new box is stable enough for production use, and mostly some features never work (consistently) correctly.
    However I haven’t come across another brand yet that overall works better, provides as broad functionality.

    My biggest grief is the inconsistent and sometimes cluttered illogical userinterface.
