    Who can give me some advice?

    Kodi 21.2 is installed on my Formuler Max 11 pro.

    Everything works fine except:

    When a video is paused for a long time ( after a few minutes) the picture and sound stutters for a few seconds after further playback.

    Only the subtitles continue displaying over a freezed image.

    Eventually, everything goes black and silent. :frowning_face:

    The only method to get out of this status is a restart of the box.

    What have I already tried:

    -Downgraded manually Kodi to version 20.5

    -Frame rate settings

    -Codec settings on/off

    -Audio passthrough on/off

    -Rebooted device

    Extra information/template:

    • Model: Formuler Z11 PRO MAX
    • Retail Box or Provider Box: Provider Box
    • Firmware version: x.xx.xx
    • Box connected with: Ethernet
    • Did you factory reset your device? and when?: Yes, no solution

    Thanks.
    The Kodi forum was already familiar to me. The Reddit link didn't bring any relief either.
    But I have increased memory cache in the Kodi settings. I haven't tested it thoroughly yet but this might lead to the solution.
    I will keep you informed

  • I run Omega 21.2 no issues. The memory cache and calculation is important. I have this in my advancedsettings.xml:

    <advancedsettings>
    <cache>
    <buffermode>4</buffermode>
    <memorysize>314572800</memorysize>
    <readfactor>15</readfactor>
    </cache>

    Also under kodi settings check that:

    audio: AudioTrack (RAW)/Android IEC packer is selected.

    If passthrough mode enabled (yes for me) passthrough audio devices = audiotrack (IEC) / Kodi IEC PACKER recommended

    Under Video / Playback : adjust display refresh rate = On start/stop
    sync playback to display" = OFF

  • You can also activate the developer settings in your Z11 box, which actually gives you access to several 'hidden' performance settings on the box itself. One of these features is a CPU power boost when playing videos, and a other feature is the way the box handles memory consumption on-the-fly.

    Try it out, because i use the Kodi on my Z11 Pro Max, and after i fiddled around with the above mentioned, it now runs like a dream, and that is with ALL media running on my NAS and pausing 80GB movies now, just doesn't matter.. thry just resumes without any problems.. even .iso files over 75GB...

    Greetings from :flag_Denmark: to you all.

    H.

  • Kodi is just setup as standard for playing 4K films with audio passthrough, so nothing fancy there.

    In the dev settings main page, go ALL the way to the bottom and press VIDEO first amd activate the performance feature there, and then back to the dev main page and choose OTHERS menu option, and in there you'll find the experimental cpu feature. And look around, others options are also available 🫡

    Nope, unfortunatley the problem remains :frowning_face:

    Could you clarify how to access these settings you are talking about please? I am confused. In my Z11 I only see settings such as "Bluetooth", speed, cloud storage etc... But certainly nothing as "VIDEO" ...??

  • I'm afraid I need some more help here. I've tried to access the Android data folder with X-Plore file manager and File commander. Unfortuntately these apps have NO ACCES to this specific folder. How can I change this file? The other device settings are well adapted.

  • The same way you acces them in an Android Mobile phone.

    Press 5 times quickly on BUILD, which you can find in the About page in the Settings of the Z11 itself 🫡

  • You cant directly modify/access the file within Android, google disallows.

    You have to use the special://profile transfer option within kodi. Load kodi, open the file manager and look at the bottom of the view. On the left side is the "special://profile", the right side is your root (local). If you have mapped drive locations like NFS you should see those on the right. Place your advancedsettings.xml in a network location then navigate on the right "root" side until you locate the file. Long press on the file name, select copy, it will ask to confirm say yes and then it will appear on the left side. From the left side you can long press on a file name and select "view as text" to ensure its your file (add a comment, see my config below, within advancedsettings.xml like a date or something so you can then verify this once its on the left side). Once the file is in special://profile need to reboot and then run kodi.

    You can probably use a USB key with the file on it and then then your USB drive it should also show up on the right side in kodi file manager. I re-checked my xml file and it looks like this:

    <advancedsettings> <!--MARCH 20-2025 -->
    <network>
    <nfstimeout>30</nfstimeout> <!-- Added in v19- Timeout in seconds for NFS access, 0 = wait forever default is 5s -->
    </network>
    <cache>
    <buffermode>4</buffermode> <!-- Use 4 for NFS -->
    <memorysize>314572800</memorysize> <!-- Should be MAX a third of free RAM -->
    <readfactor>20</readfactor> <!-- 4 is default, using 20 -->
    </cache>
    </advancedsettings>

    I use NFS for file sharing with NAS which is why i have extra NFS settings in my config. I get no pauses, smooth playback.

  • ''open the file manager''

    I am sorry. This will look very stupid but I don't see any file manager in Kodi...?

    And certainly not ''special://profile transfer option''.

  • In Kodi 21 (Omega), the File Manager is accessed through the Settings menu.

    From the Kodi home screen, navigate to the Settings icon. This is usually represented by a gear icon and is often located in the top-left or bottom of the main menu, depending on your skin. Select the Settings icon.

    In the Settings menu, you should see an option for File manager. Select File manager to open it.

    Some skins might have a shortcut directly on the main menu or a submenu. If you're using a different skin than the default Estuary, the exact location might vary slightly, but it will generally be found within the main Settings area.

    Once you open the File Manager, you'll see a dual-pane interface that allows you to manage files for your Kodi setup.

    Many thanks for your clear and extended explanation!👍

  • Unfortunately this is still unsolved...

    Hitting the pauze button for +/ 30 secs and more results in choppy video and audio. After a minute of so video freezes. :frowning_face:

    My actual advancedsettings.xml:

    <advancedsettings>
    <network>
    <nfstimeout>30</nfstimeout> <!-- Added in v19- Timeout in seconds for NFS access, 0 = wait forever default is 5s -->

    audio: AudioTrack (RAW)/Android IEC packer is selected.

    passthrough mode enabled

    Video / Playback : adjust display refresh rate = On start/stop

    sync playback to display" = OFF

    Via Dev settings, I have enabled the experimental cpu feature

    Someone with other ideas maybe?
