Here is another question for everyone. Does the Hauppauge WinTv Dual Tuner actually record one off air channel while watching another channel? It appears the 955Q only is one tuner so if this is true then the dual tuner would be the best one to purchase. I most likely will purchase the WinTv dual tuner with the ability of doing 2 tuners anyhow. Sad that Hauppauge doesn't have a 3.0 version available for purchase.
Wish I knew the answer to this one. Unfortunately I've never used the dual tuner before. It is a cool idea and hopefully Formuler supports dual OTA tuners.
-
I've been using the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-955Q USB ATSC adapters on my Z8's and Z11 Pro Max's for several years without any issues. I like the way the Formulers are able to integrate OTA and streaming channels in my Favorites list. I use the USB 2.0 ports for OTA ATSC and leave the USB 3.0 port for recording.

I encountered this yesterday and did a factory reset. But I made sure to backup my settings before doing so. The factory reset solved my MOL3 shut down issue.
-
Not that i know.
Maby in future or someone else knows.
I didn't think so but wanted to double check with the experts here. I added it to the feature request thread.

I found APKM Installer on the playstore and it was able to sideload the eufy APKM file. Unfortunately the app itself doesn't seem to like the Formuler Z11 Pro Max and runs very slow and crashes too often. I guess it wasn't meant to be. Thanks for everyone's help!
-
This is most likely a silly question but is there a way to add Youtube channels to either the main apps home or even better, to the MOL3 channel list?
-
Thanks Lucky133 and conzo69 for your responses and tips! I will try them and see if I can also find an APKMinstaller.
-
According to the APKMirror description, it says for Android 8.0+ or newer and is updated as of August 19, 2024. When I click on the file using FK TV File Commander is says "No apps can perform this action".
-
Of course, dl on pc and then copy on formatted FAT32 or NTFS stick. Open file manager and install apk.
I tried this and it says "No app found to handle this file". This is using the Downloader app via the Market store. There is no default file manager installed on the Z11 Pro Max that I was able to find.
-
Has anyone loaded the eufy security cam app on their Z11 Pro Max? It doesn't show up on the Google Play Store via Z11 but I was able to download the APK file but haven't been able to sideload it. The Z11 says there is no app to run the APK file when I try loading it. Is there a way to sideload APK's on the Z11 Pro Max?

Recently upgraded to Z11 Pro Max from my trusty CC. I have two questions:
1. Is there a better option than the Z11PM's Media Browser that's similar to what the CC and Z8 has? The new Media Browser isn't as user friendly and you can't delete files like you could before.
2. Can I assign VLC Player as the default video player from within Media Browser? The MOL3 default video player is still unable to play all my video types such as AVI even after updating to the latest firmware.
-
For anyone following this thread I can confirm the Formuler Z11 Pro Max is now part of Harmony's remote list so there's no need to substitute it with a different model (i.e., GTV). I was able to program my old Harmony 350 to control the Z11 Pro Max.

Hi,
1. All three boxes must have same Firmware and SW version. Check this first.
2. USB Stick should be formatted with FAT32 for backup files.
3. Make only 1 backup on your fine working box that you want to restore on other boxes and save on stick.
4. Connect the usb stick with other box and reboot once to be sure the stick is also initialised/recognised correctly. Now try to restore.
Hello SAM,
I tried it from the beginning again and tested between the Z8 and Z8Pro.
1. Both boxes have the same, latest updates: Firmware v1.6.7, IPTV v7.15.5, and Firmware revision r27104.
2. Fresh reformat of thumb drive to FAT32.
3. Made 1 backup from Z8.
4. Inserted thumb drive and rebooted boxes via Restart in Power Settings. Confirmed backup file is viewable on thumb drive.
Unfortunately only the Z8 is able to see the file via the Restore function in settings menu. The Z8Pro sees the thumb drive but does not recognize any backup file. I tried the reverse in which I backed up the Z8Pro to the thumb drive and the Z8 is unable to recognize the backup file. Any additional tips/advice?
-
All three of them use same Firmware and MOL2 Version, so yes, the backup file should work on all of them. For CC i`m not sure, because never restored Z8 backup file on CC, you need to try and see if it works. I think it should work also with CC.
Hello SAM - Thanks for your response. I tried this between the three units and they don't recognize the backup files each one creates. I made sure the thumb drive was formatted correctly and when I look at the file contents on my computer I can see three backup files. The Z8 only sees the backup file it created while the Z8Pro and CC only see their respective backup files too. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
-
I have a CC, Z8 and Z8Pro and would like to know if the backup files are compatible between the three? Ultimately I want the Favorites list shared between the three units as building them out separately is a major pain! Any help / advice is greatly appreciated.

Select 'None' at top of 'Startup App' list?
If I choose None then MOL2 won't start when the device is turned on. That's what I have chosen but for some odd reason Youtube just starts up whenever MOL2 does (but in the background).
-
Launcher Setting - Startup app - Check off 'Youtube App'
I don't see a way to "check off" the Youtube App within the Select Startup App setting. I see MOL2 and YouTube both listed and I can choose which app to startup whenever I turn on my device but that's it.
-
I guess the youtube process starts in background for trailers, to show them much faster in VOD.
Since I don't use VOD services is there a way to disable Youtube from automatically starting?
-
Is there a reason why Youtube automatically starts in the background whenever I turn on my Z8 and Z8 Pro? It doesn't create any issues with MOL2 but it does use resources in the background. I can force the Youtube app to stop and clear its cache but it restarts (in the background) once I start MOL2 back up again.
-
Thanks! Been waiting for the USB tuner support. Can't wait to try it out.

Has anyone else experienced the Google Playstore app crashing at the login screen on a Z8? The Z8 is fully updated and I am trying to install the Nest app (similar to another Z8 I have) but I can't get past the Google Playstore login screen. Before I can enter any login credentials it kicks me back out to the main Z8 screen. I've stopped the Google Playstore app running in the background and tried restarting it but same thing happens. Any advice? Should I just reset the unit and start from scratch?
-
Any ideas? Besides buying CC, this is a advertised feature for the z8 pro would really like to get working.
Hey kg1 - So I have the Z8Pro (and CC) and I know for sure the Z8Pro works with the Hauppauge 955Q USB ATSC tuner. Here's a pic of my Z8Pro with the 955Q. Safe to assume you've already tested the antenna the 955Q is connected to and you have a good signal? When I go to my MOL2 Connections setting I see an ATSC option. When I first setup the Z8Pro and 955Q I did encounter a couple of random instances in which it did not see the 955Q so I just unplugged the power and plugged it back in which resolved the issue.
Have you tried both USB ports with the 955Q? I use it on the USB 2.0 so I can reserve the 3.0 for my thumb drive. Not sure if this response helps but did want to respond that my Z8Pro works fine with the 955Q. Good luck!
-
Why not use the CC? Didn't you win one?
I am using the CC but would like to use the GTV as well since the AndroidTV interface is much nicer. I bought 2 GTVs that are sitting unused while waiting for the update. If there are no plans to incorporate the USB NTSC adapter option then maybe I should try selling them?
-
Still no support for USB NTSC adapters (i.e., Hauppauge)? Patiently waiting for this.
-
Are the developers still looking to implement GTV support of the Hauppauge 955Q USB ATSC tuner adapter? The Z8 and Z8 Pro supports this but not the GTV.
-
Ok, then, I guess since I've had both tuners fail to register on my Z8 pro I will buy the CC. Thanks v8rick!
Before you spend the money have you tried using the Hauppauge USB tuners on a PC or another Formuler unit to make sure those aren't the culprits? I'm assuming the Z8 Pro works fine for streaming and only has a problem recognizing the Hauppauge. Hopefully you can return the Z8 Pro to the seller and use the refund to get the CC if all else fails.
-
But what about the 10- 100 mbps vs the Z8 pro 100-1000 mbps? I have gig speed internet because I hate buffering. Does the 100 limitation on the CC make it buffer?
No buffering with the CC. Feels and performs just as good as the Z8 and Z8 Pro. I also have gig speed via Xfinity.

I have bought the Hauppauge 955 Q ota tuner and the MyGica a681 ota tuner for my Z8 pro, and neither one enables the Terrestrial window to come up enabling me to scan for ota channels.
I have been using a Hauppauge 955Q with my Z8 and Z8 Pro units without any issues. Have you tried resetting the power by unplugging the power supply and/or plug behind the Z8 Pro? I've had the Hauppauge not get recognized twice before and resetting the power worked both times on the Z8. The Z8 Pro hasn't had any recent issues with the Hauppauge for me.
Once you reset the power start MOL2, hit the Menu button, and go to the Connections setting on the left. You should now have the ATSC connection option with your Portals and Playlists. Click on that then choose Scan and leave the Mode on Auto (Full). Click on the Start Scanning option and let it go through the OTA channel scan. Once it's done scanning then you should be able to start viewing your local OTA channels.
Hope this helps! And BTW I recently got a Formuler CC unit and that works perfectly for OTA channels!

To continue my review above, the CC is a great unit and especially if you want the OTA channels capability built in without having to worry about a separate USB OTA adapter. Although the Hauppauge 955Q has worked, and continues to work, great for me with my Z8 and Z8 Pro.
Here's where things get a little weird and I believe it's a MOL2 issue vs. a hardware issue. Both the Z8 Pro + Hauppauge and CC are unable to acquire complete OTA guide and show descriptions. Below are screenshots of incomplete OTA guide information and show details for several local OTA channels. Note the No information and blank show description for the highlighted LIVE with Kelly and Ryan show.
Below is a screenshot of the same LIVE with Kelly and Ryan show that has a description but via the streaming provider.
I'm using a very large outdoor antenna that's installed in the attic. Signal and quality strength is excellent for all channels. When watching the same OTA channels on my Vizio TV it has all of the guide and show descriptions that the Formuler Z8 Pro and CC are unable to acquire. That's probably the only issue I have found so far with the CC and since it's present in the Z8 Pro as well, I'm assuming it's a MOL2 software issue with acquiring and interpreting guide and description data for OTA channels. Maybe this is something Formuler can continue researching and testing.
Other than the small issue above I'm very impressed and happy with the new Formuler CC. It's a great unit and I'll be using this in place of the Z8 Pro in the bedroom. I'm still looking for continued updates to the GTV so I can hopefully use the Hauppauge 955Q with that unit in the future.
Hope this information helps others and let me know if you'll have any questions I can try answering.

First and foremost I want to thank Formuler TV for sending me the new Formuler CC unit as a result of the February drawing. I was able to set the CC up yesterday and go through the recent software updates. Here we go...
Below are visual comparisons of the Formuler Z8, GTV, Z8 Pro, and CC. As you can see I'm a huge Formuler fan and the CC is the latest addition to the family. I used a USB wireless keyboard/keypad and my trusty Harmony remote for all of these units therefore negating the BT1 and IR1 remotes (for better or for worse).
Comparisons of front, sides, and backs of the units.
To be honest I have shelved the Z8 and GTV. The Z8 is the oldest of the set and the GTV, although quite new with a nice AndroidTV interface, is just not quite there yet with the features I need. I'll go into further detail on that point in a separate post.
Before the CC's arrival I have been using the Formuler Z8 Pro with a Hauppauge 955Q USB NTSC tuner for OTA channels. Below is a quick visual comparison of these two units. As you can see the Z8 Pro with USB adapter requires a larger footprint than the CC by about 1" to the left and 1/2" in the front.
What I wasn't expecting was the CC's plug orientation changed. I knew the CC's power adapter would be a little larger since it requires more power for the integrated OTA tuner but did not expect the prongs to be rotated 180 degrees when compared to the Z8 and Z8 Pro's adapters. Keep this in mind if you plan on using this on a power strip and/or UPS backup like I do.
Overall the build quality is very nice and since it uses the same MOL2 interface as the Z8 Pro there's no learning curve for setup and everyday use. Performance is identical and OTA channel scans result in the same number of channels. And with the most recent MOL2 update you can now set reminders or record OTA shows! Since I'm limited to 10 pictures per post I will continue my review in a new, separate follow up post.

CC. on its way cheers
Thanks v8rick!
-
Just responded with my information. Thanks and can't wait to try out the CC! Will post a review and comparison against the Z8/Z8 Pro.
-
I haven't had the chance to try the ASTC tuner yet as I am waiting to get my OTA antenna installed and wire run. I will update my review once I get it up and running.
Once you get your OTA antenna installed and setup please let me know if the Formuler CC is able to get good guide information for OTA channels. I am currently using a USB ATSC tuner with my Z8 Pro and the OTA channel guide / information is mostly empty. I'm curious if the Formuler CC's internal ATSC tuner works better at acquiring guide info. I know my OTA antenna strength is good and my TV is able to get good OTA guide info.

I am using a Z8 Pro with a Vizio TV and Sony STR-DH540 but with a basic Harmony 350 remote. I don't use the HDMI CEC to control TV power but rather the Watch TV function on the Harmony. Once everything turns on it defaults to the Z8 Pro buttons so we don't have to manually switch over to that device on the Harmony to control it. Not sure if this info helps but at least you know our Harmony is able to control Z8 Pro after turning everything on via Watch TV so it should work the same for your Harmony Ultimate. Can you try bypassing HDMI CEC and adding the Sony TV to your Watch TV sequence to see if that will work?
-
I have both Z8 and Z8 Pro and have not encountered this issue. I've even used both units at the same time with same provider. Both are connected via ethernet.

I currently own a Z8, Z8 Pro and GTV and really want the CC in order to take advantage of the built-in ATSC tuner! I purchased the GTV when it first came out last year and unfortunately it does not support the Hauppauge 955Q USB ATSC tuner like the Z8 and Z8 Pro units do. None of the recent GTV updates have added this feature and if I had known about the CC when I originally purchased the GTV then I would have waited. Because of this I am still using the Z8/Z8 Pro with Hauppauge 955Q USB ATSC tuner but would rather get the CC since the tuner is built-in and I know for sure is compatible (and hopefully less heat produced like the Hauppauge USB tuner). I would definitely provide a comparison review between the Z8 Pro w/USB tuner vs. new CC with built-in tuner if I am fortunate enough to win.

Would really like to have the ability to move channels up and down in the favorites list a lot faster. We have to hold down the up / down arrow buttons to move a channel but if our favorites list is long (i.e., 200+ channels) then this can take a while. Can we utilize the channel up / down buttons to move through the list by page similar to guide navigation?
