I have downloaded and installed the Plus version on my Android tablet and activated Premium. I can watch channels, but how do I set a timer recording on a channel that he no EPG data? I now how to do it on a Formuler Box but it seems it is not possible in the app. Is that correct?

Hi. Yes, I still have the z8 in a bedroom and the flash drives work perfectly in it.

I formated them in rufus, with the Z11 menu... Everything I can think!

I happens in the 2 usb. I have bought a ugreen usb 3 hub with external power supply thinking that it was lack of power but it was not...

I also have both the Z11 PM and the Z8. I am curious to hear from you if formatting the drive in the Android menu as external storage works for you. Why not give it a try?

Yes, tried everything I can remember.

    This is making me crazy

Are the USB Flash drives the same as those which were working with the Z8? Are you using the USB3 port?

You might want to try to format the USB flash drive as external storage in the main (Android) menu of the Z11. Don't know which format Android uses, however for me it works, records on the USB flash drive and plays back the recordings without any issues.

By the way, the flash drive I am using is a Samsung Fit Plus 256 GB.

    Hi,

When you schedule a recording, for example overnight, with the device in standby, why can't MYTVOnline2 be forced to start on the TV channel on which you programmed the recording? Or to stay still in stanby?

At me, MYTVOnline2 when the scheduled recording starts from standby it opens on the last TV channel I watched + recording in background

It seems to me somehow a waste of bandwidth with 2 lines used at the same time. Or for example the provider only offers you just 1 line ... there is a good chance that the scheduled recording will fail.

Whenever I want to schedule a recording, I have to be careful that when I put the device on standby, the last TV channel I watch is the one I am going to record. It's very frustrating ...

I have exactly the same issue. I use one line. Scheduled recordings will fail when I put the box on standby while the box is on a different channel from the channel set for the scheduled recording. Could this issue please be solved?

    New findings:

It turns out that this issue happens only with my m3u connection. After writing the above I have re-tested it with a m3u connection, same issue. Tested twice with a portal connection, here there is no issue of failed recordings.

    What could be the reason?

Lee, if you'd like you could use a Bluetooth transmitter . Connect I'd to the optical SPDIF out of your TV or your box. I am using the Avantree Oasis Plus. Listening with two headphones simultaneously .

Before I was using a different transmitter, did not sound better than the BT of the Formuler. The BlueTooth standard used can have quite an influence on the quality of the sound, imho.

I have on my Z8 Firmware v1.4.50 , MOL v7.6.2 and Nordvpn app v4.0.3 and in Settings > Use TCP off. and Cybersec is on. => VPN is functioning.

Ragu is Nordvpn working on one of your other devices? Just to ensure that it is no subscription issue.

Or could it be that after your update Nordvpn thinks you want to use a 6th line while your subscription is valid for 5 lines only?

This a great, thank you so much ddd !!!

I was looking for option IV: watch a finished recording and meanwhile record an M3U stream. I am so happy that this can be done now.

For this I am recording in MOL and watching the pre-recorded stream in VLC. To do so there is no need to enter the M3U playlist in VLC.

BTW I noticed that in VLC > Settings > Extra settings > Interface > Android TV Interface : ✓ the box. That enables to control most or all with your remote control only. Added value is the nicer looks as well.

    Shout out to ddd

I have one line subscription, I would like to watch a recording which is already on my drive and at the same time record live TV. I have added this as a feature request, however I think it was never mentioned if this would be added in a future update. Would this technically be possible in Android?

This feature is possible in Linux, would be great if could be added to the Z8.

Which Chipset, CPU and GPU does the Formuler Z8 have?

The only thing I could find is that the CPU is a Hisilicon quad core, and the GPU is a high performance muti-core, but no further specs.

I am asking because would like to compare with other boxes and although hardware is only part of the story, it is important as well.

I should not reply to my own post. Just wanted to let you know that my problem seems solved now. Apparently the Z8 is very picky on the USB sticks / drives it works well with. I am now using a spare SSD and since then all recordings worked out fine.

I wish the Z8 would have a USB port with sufficient power to drive an external HDD. The power of the port should go in stand-by if the hard drive is not in use for X number of minutes, like with an e-sata connection.

Have a USB stick formatted as in the tutorial. Some scheduled recordings are okay. Can see them in the recordings section, with the correct time length and an image in the icon and play them.

However other recordings are visible in the recordings section, but with a length of 0:00 and an empty icon.

Even though during the recording the recorded channel did not go on black at all and the red record indicator with time indicator was visible in top right of the screen and not having touched the Formuler Z8 while recording.

How could I ensure that scheduled recordings will not fail ?

Does this occur with only one particular recording or does it happen with all recordings? Are you recording on a USB stick or a hard disk with power via de USB port ? I am asking because the same happened to me when recording on various USB sticks but now I'm using an external hard disk and there is no such problem anymore. Hopefully you'll have an external hard disk, with its own PSU somewhere to give it a try. Ensure that the channel number has not changed from when you entered the scheduled recording, that could also give a recording without a picture.

Do other users also have the impression that the power output on the USB ports of the Z8 is not sufficient?
