    Make sure the EPG is on the correct date and time. Sometimes I go to EPG and shut it down, only to have it at that past date and time the next time I open it. On mine, it is the yellow selection to go to current time.

  • Capped bandwidth or whats up?

    Today I decided to run some speed tests on my Z8 because I am constantly getting buffering no matter what I try to watch.

    I understand the Z8 has gigabit capability.

    I am using the fast.com program to do the speed test. For a control test, I connected a 50' cat 6 shielded cable from my network switch directly to my Windows 10 desktop PC and got 530Mbps. I then unplugged the cat 6 cable from the back of my PC and connected it directly to the Z8 and got 120Mbps.

    My Z8 has dynamic addressing. Wi-fi & Lan are both on in case I move the box to another TV in the house. FYI I tried turning off the Wi-fi on the Z8 but the test still came back as 120Mbps.

    I went through the setting on the Z8 looking for something that is limiting the bandwidth, but could not find anything.

    I know some will say 120Mbps is fast enough, but my PC and the Z8 both have gigabit Lan's so why am I not getting the same speeds? I'm starting to dislike the constant buffering.

    Any information that you can share will be greatly appreciated.

    Hmm, I wonder what could cause the STB to not work while the TV button works.

    Last year I installed a Z10 Pro at a dear friends place in the next province.

    Today she called me up and said it is not working.

    I asked her to press the STB button at the top right. She did and said nothing is happening. I asked her if the little LED light on the remote came on when she pressed it. She said no. I thought maybe the batteries are dead. I asked her to press the TV button on the left side. She did, the LED light came on and the TV came on. So it appears the remote batteries are fine. She tried the STB button again and nothing happened and the LED did not come on.

    I have a Z8, with a totally different remote so I can not see if the STB button does in fact light the LED. Can someone with a Z10 remote tell me if the LED light comes on when you press the STB button?

    I am probably going to have to go to her place tomorrow just to get it all going again for her.

  • Pro's or con's to leaving the box on and not putting into standby?

    I guess it all depends on where you leave it. If it is on the home screen then I guess it will be the same as if it was on standby.

    If you leave on live tv then it will continue using bandwidth from your internet. Probably won't matter if you have unlimited. Also if you record then it might come up with a window telling you that it must switch channels or something. It probably will switch over automatically, or maybe not.

    May I ask why you would want to leave it on all the time?

    I do have it set for Standby.

    When I turn the power on the Z10, it doesn't go through the "Formuler Z10" boot screen, so I know it is on Standby, but it goes directly into the "Home Screen". Now I have to select MOL2 to go to the TV channels.

    My Z8 is also on Standby, and when I power it on, it immediately goes to where it was when I shut it off. In my case it is usually to the TV channels.

    If I was at the home screen when I shut down then it will go back there when I turn it on.

    If I was at the VOD screen when I shut down then it will go back there when I turn it on.

    But the Z10, no matter where I am when I turn it off will always go to the home screen when I power it on.

    It's funny because the link I posted above, the guy has the same issue but backwards from mine. His Z10 works perfectly and his Z8 boots only to the home screen.

    I am just trying to figure out why both of them can't do the same thing.

    Yeah, as I mentioned in my post above, when I try that then it goes through the entire loadup as in:

    - Z10 turns on

    - Goes to home page

    - Launches MOL2 app

    - Loads TV channels

    Then it goes to the last channel that I was watching before shutting down.

    On my Z8, I do not have a launcher app installed, and when I press the power button it goes immediately to the last channel I was on before going into sleep mode. All this happens in about 2-3 seconds on my Z8.

    I found another thread on this forum site having the same issues but backwards from mine. His Z8 is slow but his Z10 is fast. Opposite of mine.

    MOL2 start automatically?

    A few quick questions:

    With Z8 when powering off the unit i had it set to go to standby mode. When starting again I had to click on MOL2 and the portal would start to load with that percentage increase before it was completely loaded.

    With Z10 i also have the shut off mode set to standby, but here, when i start the unit it will go directly to MOL2 and load the channel i last used very quick, like less than a second. No percentage loading of portal...

    I do have the setting in MOL2 to load the last…

    I just want to know why the Z10 that I installed has to go through the entire cycle to go into the tv channels, whereas my Z8 goes there instantly.

  • Z10 Wakes to Home Screen

    I just installed a Z10 Pro at a dear friends place and I noticed that when we shut it down (sleep mode) and wake it up a little while later, it goes to the home screen instead of the last channel that we were on when it went to sleep. It does not go through the boot menu (displaying the "Formuler Z10" boot up). It just goes to the home screen, where we now have to select MYTVOnline2 app to get back to the TV.

    At home I have the Z8 and it will always wake to where it was before it went to sleep. Whatever channel I was on. It doesn't matter if a few minutes has passed or a few days since I turned it off.

    I have tried going through the Z10 settings to see what is causing this. I have also tried searching through this entire web-site and Googling for any assistance.

    Believe me, I would only create a new post asking a question as a last resort, to try to find an answer.

    I have tried setting the default startup app to MTVO2, and that sort of works in such as it still goes to the home screen then automatically goes into the TV app, but it still has to load it as if it is the first time that you went here. My Z8 at home does not have the startup app selected, it just goes to the last channel when you turn on the box.

    Is the Z10 setup differently that it will only wake to the home screen?

    I seem to only get the "error while signing in" message when I don't put in the correct name of the movie.

    Sometimes the icon photo of the movie says one name but the text name under it is something else.

    Movies get released earlier in other countries than in mine and they go by a different name, so I need to find the real name then search for the CC and all works well.

    I don't understand why it does this, but it works for me.

  • Record Questions

    My brother-in-law mentioned a little problem with his new Z8 using an external hard drive.

    His hard drive goes to sleep within 30 minutes or something, so it will never record anything after that time.

    We can't find a setting to turn off the sleep mode.

    Any ideas?

  • Scheduled recordings start too early

    I have been trying to figure it out since I got my Z8 late last year.

    I don't record much, but time shifting does the same thing. I go back a couple of hours to watch a show and I have to fast forward 3-4 minutes into it before the show actually starts, and then the time-slot will end 3-4 minutes before the show is actually over.

    In order to see the last few minutes I need to go to the next show on the EPG and watch the first 3-4 minutes to complete the previous show.

    I don't know if I am explaining it right but it has always been an issue and I have yet to actually find a fix.

    As for recordings, the only work-around I have found is to add 5 minutes to the recordings (it will add to the beginning and the end). Now you have to fast forward 8 minutes at the beginning to the start of the show but will end properly as it is recording an extra 5 minutes at the end.

    It is not ideal and hopefully it will be corrected someday.

  • EPG Offset by the Minute

    What a great web-site. You guys are always quick to answer. Thanks for being here for all of us.

    My MOL2 Local timeshift was defaulted OFF and I enabled it when I first got the Z8 in order to watch shows from earlier in the day. I can go back 6 hours which is good for me.

    The Extra Recording Time is currently set for 5 minutes, but that is for a beginning and ending recording buffer and not for using Timeshift on EPG.

    So I guess there is nothing I can do to fix this. What is really annoying is if I am watching a program that was on an hour ago and the last 3:40 minutes runs into the current live show that is on now, I can't watch the last few minutes as you can't timeshift to the beginning of the current live show. So I must wait for 2 hours in order to get the entire one hour show.

    Anyway, I appreciate all your help ddd and thank you once again for what you and SAM do on this site.

  • EPG Offset by the Minute

    I have searched and could not find exactly what I am looking for, so I apologize if it has already been asked.

    I have a Z8 with Firmware 1.4.54 , Software 2.1.5 and MOL2 version 7.6.3

    I am able to change the EPG offset plus or minus from NONE to 6 HOURS in 30 minute intervals. Currently it is set to NONE.

    I was wondering if there is any way to adjust the EPG by only 3 or 4 minutes.

    When I timeshift back to a certain timeslot (say the Local News) on the EPG and press OK, I will see the previous show play for about 3:40 (that's 3 minutes and 40 seconds) before the News will start, but that means when I reach the end of the timeslot it stops playing and I still have 3:40 of the News to watch, so I must go to the next timeslot and press play in order to get the final 3:40 of the previous News.

    The EPG Offset minimum adjustment is 30 minutes. Is there any way to tweak it to only move 3 or 4 minutes? Or is there any other way to get around this?

  • VOD on USB Disk

    Thanks everyone. I guess I misunderstood. I thought Cool-ima had a VOD on a USB device that he was trying to watch through the Z8. I wasn't sure how he managed to get the VOD on the USB device in the first place. I knew you can't record it, but thought there was some other way so you could watch it off-line, like when you are on a plane or camping or something. But I guess that is not possible.

    Thanks again, I am very new at all of this and I am trying to learn all I can, so some of my questions may be at the junior level.

  • 3D Movies

    On of the movie groups on my Z8 is 3D Movies.

    When I try watching one of them the screen is divided right down the middle and the movie is displayed on both sides simultaneously.

    What do I need to buy in order to watch this?

    I guess gone are the days of red and blue lens glasses... I am really showing my age here.

  • Movie / Channel Count

    I am new to the Z8 and I tried searching for the answer but could not find anything.

    Is there any way that MOL2 can give me a count to how many channels and movies that my provider is giving me?

    The reason I ask is when I tell my friends about the Z8 and all the channels and movies I get they all ask the same question. How many?

    My provider may tell me but as they say: "Trust, but verify".

    Anyone have an answer to this?

  • USB Problems

    Works fine on my end.

    I just got my Z8 2 weeks ago as well.

    Currently have Z8 Firmware 1.4.46

    Using ADATA 128GB USB3.2 stick out of box formatted with FAT32 plugged into blue USB port on right hand side.

    Have mini keyboard FOB plugged into USB 2 port on left side.

    Have no problems recording at anytime. The stick is recognized at all times.

    I did NOT use the Z8 to format the memory stick, I just plugged it in and it works.

    Try what SAM says above.
