    Hi Sam, what is the implication for HDR content of the Media Player if I change to SDR mode? I have a lot of 4k HDR movies I watch over the Z8. Is the TV itself providing the HDR quality or is it not feeded from the Z8 if I change to SDR on the Z8?

    Ok so changing Port and cable no difference. And my sky box and PS4 don’t have that issue, so it’s clearly a setting/issue on the Z8.

    However when I change in Imprex engine the intelligent color to “optimal” the bad effect is almost gone, but not totally. That brings me to my further questions: what are the best settings to apply in the Imprex Engine Settings? Any recommendations to improve the picture quality?

    Further you guys have HDMI Auto Adaptation activated?

  • Color issue with Z8

    Hi Guys,

    I have the Sony AG9 Oled TV and when I watch Full HD content with the Media Player or Kodi or VLC or MX PLayer I recognize that the people skin colour has strong Orange spots. I played and verified the same content directly on the TV Media Player/Kodi/MX/VLC with the same Color Settings of the TV and the Color there is spot on, no Orange overlay. I attached a picture to demonstrate what I mean. Source is a 1080p movie.

    Any idea what the problem could be? Normal TV program, PS4 pro, Streaming etc. does not have that problem. Only content played with the Z8.

    It’s on NTFS format cause of the file sizes... anyway I want the HDD to be off, not on standby. I’ll use the power off function. Is there any disadvantage of the power off mode besides longer startup phase?

    No I’m not worried about the consumption, more about the usage of the HDD. The HDD doesn’t seem to be on standby as the led stays on and blinks from time to time and I can still hear the HDD and it’s warm.


    Ok so it’s not possible to configure the USB port behavior for standby like on pc?

  • Prime App Stream Quality

    The prime app on the Z8 is a nightmare! I don’t understand what build was used. I have a Sony 65AG9 and the Prime app Sony is using over the google play store is another world! It’s annoying because I would like to use all media streaming on the Z8 but the prime app is a disaster.. I tried also the one from marketplace, same bad build...maybe the admins can shed some light why it’s not the same build you have on the smart TVs

  • External HDD Standby

    Hi Guys,


    when I plug my external 2.5” HDD into the Z8 and I put it to standby the HDD remains on all the time. If I select as power option “turn off” the HDD turns off immediately. But it takes long to start the box as I assume “turn off” means deep sleep, right? Or are there other implications with the turn off power option?


    is it possible to have the USB port turned off on standby as well?

  • MAC portal connection fails

    Hi all,

    i am desperately searching for a solution to my portal problem. I bought the Z8 just a couple of days ago and it’s up to date in Firmware and IPTV software. But I cannot establish any connection via the MAC portal. After intense trouble shooting with the provider it seems the Z8 is the problem as my MAC portal connection via another box in the same network works perfectly, hence no ISP, Firewall or network issue.

    Also using m3u url list works, only portal loads until 10%, then I get a Code 7 error.

    I already tried factory reset and searched this forum for solutions but so far nothing helped. Without the portal I can’t use the Z8 :tired_face:
