Yes always format to NFTS,read in article section "How to format....etc"

You can do this on your laptop using Rufus tool to format

  • hi ive just been on the internet

    i notices a hard drive 1tb

    Toshiba Canvio Basics

hard drive they recommend this drive for formula z11 pro max

it says its already plug and play

    already formatted in ntfs

would this be plug and record straight away without formatting with rufus

will it detect drive straight away

  • If they say so it will, but you can buy 1tb ssd or hd,from prices between 30-60 euro online just about everywhere!

You can connect the hd via a usb port (2.0 or3.0),then restart your box once.

Go to mol3 menu>settings>DVR settings and set the hd for recording and timeshift.

    Its ready to use!

I f you read article on "How to format...etc""

you would know by now that formuler boxes are supported by FAT32,NFTS and exFAT formatting,NFTS is however the preffered option, according to SAM,for obvious reasons

  • Basically there is no limit, you can go up to 4tb for external hd,but this will cost you!

For basic regular recording 1tb is more than enough, and you will also delete recordings,i guess?

The Toshiba 1 tb looks as a good choice pricewise and the fact its already formatted too NFTS,i recently bought an Intenso 1 tb hd and its superior too ssd or USB stick, but its FAT32,so you have to format it yourself on laptop

Make up your mind and go for 1 or 2tb external hd,shop around on internet some more,i must say the Toshiba and Intenso are both compact and hard plastic case fitting well esthetically with z11 box.

If you reveal what country you live in other people may direct you towards the best shop and price. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
