  • I’m trying to configure the TV Source/Input button on the GTV-IR1 remote that comes with the Formuler Z10 and am running into issues. I’ve successfully set up the power and volume buttons to work with my TV using the learning mode, but the Source button doesn't switch input sources like it should.

When I previously set up another universal remote with this same TV (it's an Insignia / NS-55D440NA14), I had the same problem and ended up having to manually configure the IR codes for the source/input function. From what I understand, the Formuler remote doesn’t use IP codes, so I’m stuck trying to figure out how to make this work. This is particularly frustrating because the source button is the only reason I still need to keep my TV’s original remote around. I’d love to consolidate everything to the Formuler remote if possible.

I’ve already reviewed the following threads, but unfortunately they refer to the BT or an older remote model and haven't helped me: Source function on remote, Bluetooth remote control, How to program Source button on GTV-IR1?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

  • Do you still have the universal remote in your posession?

Yep! I do. I've actually tried pairing with both the og and the universal but not getting much luck. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I've tried at least a dozen times with each. The other buttons took 2-3 tries at most.

  • If the Universal remote can change the source on your TV, use your Universal remote to learn the codes to your Formuler remote.

Follow the instructions in the following Youtube video. Make sure the point the front of both remotes directly at each other so they are touching.

  • I appreciate you sharing that video, however as I already mentioned, that method is NOT working. I have tried this with the universal and OG remote many times, the other buttons are being learned just fine, this is how I know I'm doing it right. For whatever reason the source/input button is the only one that does NOT work, no matter how many times I try I can't get that one button to rapid blink and "learn". I have even waited a few days in between and tried again just in case, but it's not learning it.

Is there any other way for this to be programmed?

  • Maybe try to unplug the TV from power before trying to program the Source button?

Another option is to go to the Electronics store with your IR1 and "borrow" one of the display remotes to try to program the source button. Or borrow a friend's remote.

Finally, you can purchase a Formuler BT1 remote and see if it fits your needs.
