I have a 5.1 system, Formuler is plugged into the TV and TV has e-ARC to my receiver.
When I go to the main menu of the Formuler box and choose Surround Sound, I don't see a section to pick bitstream/PCM/Auto. Where is this located? Second, why is Dolby Digital and DD Plus grayed out? Please help me to get the maximum use out of this box and my 5.1 set-up.

This is fine so. You set it to automatic.
Did you download from the formuler market app (green logo with white trolly) the "audio optimizer" app and run it?
Check then at sound again.
You need to check on your tv at hdmi settings or sound settings is passthrough as bistream/raw format.
on my lg i see at hdmi setup with each hdmi port that it's bitstream. (Or if it set it to pcm.
