My Z7+ box won’t record.

Evening,just joined forum tonight and would like some advice please,sadly I am extremely backward in modern tech stuff,however I can navigate around the z7 no problem,,I was advised to purchase an external hard drive enabling me to record,,I bought a WD 4TB hard drive,plugged it into side of box and it flashes then become still so to speak,,it just won’t record,full stop,,I connected it to my smart 4K tv and it works perfectly,,,can someone advise me what it is I am doing wrong.?,,as I say I am a numpty with fancy words but able to work z7 no problem ( he says),I have checked leads etc etc,,,thanks,,,,bondy.

1. Does the external 4TB WD have also external power supply?

2. Format your hdd with NTFS and Rufus tool -> How to format Micro SD card, USB flash drive, pen drive, hard drive or SSD for use with Z and S Boxes.

1) no plug,it just has a short lead from WD to right hand side of box.

2)unsure how to do this,but I can find someone to assist me,I thank you for your reply it’s nice to know forums like this.Iwill post back ASAP with update,

Hi Sam, many thanks for your reply, so this hard drive has a lead into it and the other end Slots into the right hand side of the box, so NO plug as such. As regards to your second point, I will attempt to follow your instructions but may require a bit more guidance if I cannot do this myself, really appreciate your input,, bondy.

Maybe is also the power consumption of your drive to high for the box but if you say it works on other devices , it should also work on Z7+. Did you tested recording with some usb stick and simple format in Fat32 or ntfs?
