Specs. do not limit the capacity, i saw people using 4TB and one user use 8TB SSD on Formuler Boxes. Do not understand why so big SSD`s for such box, but ok, everyone like he need.
More important is what is exactly in use SSD or HDD and if HDD power consumption matches the permitted USB power specifications/criteria.

I'm planning on using a WD 2To HDD. It comes with a power adapter. Think it will work?

Yes, it should work.
Tip: Format the hdd first on PC with NTFS and connect then with box.

Why not purchasing some cheap external 1TB SSD, is big enough and no need for any extra adapter? I use on my main box 500GB SSD and my wife record a lot, seen shows are deleted constantly, works.

Works like a charm. Plus, there's less skipping / freezing when watching and recording a different channel. Many thanks!
