Hi, I know how to record live or scheduled tv shows to my flash drive in the Z11 promax box, but wish to save some movies (from VOD menu) and a complete tv series (from TV Series menu) to my external hard drive so I can view these while away at work where there is no internet access. I haven't been able to find how to do this.

It was never possible to record movies from VOD, no box or iptv app in this sector can do it. Provider admin panel (server) have no setting to allow this and it is questionable whether stalker and xc api as a protocol can do this at all. If it were possible, then MOL3 would be able to accommodate it too.

But how would the server know it's beeing played or recorded, as long as it streams?
Mol3 could record the stream

Strangely enough in channel section/adult/behindPIN,you can record as much as you want.
How is this different from recording from VOD section?

Please read my early post again. It was never possible and if the protocol doesn`t support it, it`s not possible. Second even if would work, i don`t think the server would allow it and his settings.

Because this counts to normal stream channel, no matter if with pin or not, its channel that is allowed to be recorded.

What i don't understand is how the server would see any difference between a watching stream and a recording stream?

He don`t need to see anything, because the admin panel and protocol show what is possible and what not, for him. User do only what is possible and allowed, that`s all. Fact is, VOD and Series can not be recorded..
