  • Burn-In Protection (Pixel Shifting):
A new “Burn-In Protection (Pixel Shifting)” option has been added to the settings menu. When enabled, the clock shifts by a few random pixels every minute. The movement is barely noticeable, but highly effective in preventing burn-in on OLED screens.

    Very important feature.

    Nice work Richi207

  • Since the review of version 15 (1.1.5) is still not completed (most likely a manual review is required), I added a small fix. On phones and similar devices, the buttons for free movement did not work correctly. Therefore, I created a new version 16 (1.1.6). These changes do not affect Android TV devices.
    Wishing you a great Sunday!

Edit 1: Version 16 (1.1.6) is rolling out 😉 The app is now available on the Play Store.

  • So, I’ve answered the first questions.

A huge thank you to all the testers – your feedback has been incredibly valuable. I honestly didn’t expect to receive so many useful tips, and they really helped a lot.

I have now applied for production access.

"We have received your request for production access.
Your information is being reviewed. The account owner will be notified by email about the result. This usually takes up to seven days, but sometimes longer.
    Requested: today, 17:06"

  • Quick Update:

I now have production access. However, the latest app version was rejected because of an issue with two banners. I can fix this and will take a look at it tonight.

The newest version will also support more languages (a total of 16), including Swiss German. The language selection will be located at the bottom of the menu (v17 1.1.7 and up).

  • The app is now publicly available as a Beta version on the Play Store – just search for KloqTV. As far as I know, you need to uninstall the Beta if you want to switch to the public release. I actually thought it wouldn’t be limited to Beta only, so I was a bit surprised, especially since I had already added more languages.
In the APK version I tested directly on my box and phone, the translations worked perfectly. Unfortunately, when downloading from the Play Store, the app currently only translate in Italian. For Arabic, the clock switches correctly, but the texts are not translated.
Well – that means I won’t run out of work. 😉
Feel free to keep testing – and once again, a huge thank you to all testers!

Edit 1: I think I found the cause of the language issue. Google only delivers the language files that are relevant for the user, unless you explicitly tell the app to prevent Google from doing so.

As for the Beta status, it’s probably because I’m still part of the closed tester group. I’ll close that group soon.

  • Only Formuler GTV will appear in the compatibility list because all other Z models are AOSP and not Google certified devices.

Does this mean that they will still be able to sideload given the news about google clamping down on third party apks ?
    Thanks

No, it’s completely available on the Z11. No problem. It’s available on almost all device types. (Smartphones, Tablets, Android TV, Chrome OS, Android XR)

  • The app is now fully available on the Play Store. Before the update it still showed “(Beta)” next to the app, but after the update it’s gone – sooo cool! 🎉
I built this Android app with Kotlin and Android Studio – and yes, a big thank you also goes to AI. Without AI, I would never have found my mistakes so quickly, had my texts improved, and translated the app into different languages.

But the biggest credit goes to the testers: without you, the app wouldn’t be what it is today. So many valuable inputs and suggestions – I’m really happy! 😊

Version 19 (1.1.9) is now live, and the translations finally work exactly the way I wanted them to.
Please continue sending me your inputs and suggestions for improvement. And if something doesn’t work, just let me know here. I’d really appreciate it.

Best regards and have a great Sunday!
