Z11 Pro geo-locks and shuts down when connected to internet — purchased from Amazon US and shipped to Egypt

    I purchased a Formuler Z11 Pro from Amazon US. The order was shipped directly to Egypt and Amazon collected shipping/import charges.

    The product listing did not clearly state that the device is restricted to a specific geographic region or that it cannot be used in Egypt.

    When I first connected the device, I had Ethernet plugged in as part of the normal setup. Once the device booted, it showed the message saying the device is only for sale/use in a specific region, then it automatically shut down.

    I tried a factory reset. After the reset, the device was able to boot again and reach the language/setup menu. However, whenever I connect the device to the internet, the same geo-lock / region-lock message comes back and the device automatically shuts down again.

    This makes the device unusable in Egypt.

    I am trying to understand the correct official solution:

    Can Formuler or the seller/distributor remotely activate or unlock this specific device for use in Egypt?

    If this unit is a North America-only regional model and cannot be used in Egypt, can Formuler please confirm that so I can proceed with the seller/Amazon for refund or replacement?

    Also, is there any plan for Formuler to officially support the Middle East and Africa region in the future? There are customers in countries like Egypt who want to buy and use Formuler devices legitimately, and it would be helpful to know if official regional support or compatible models will become available.

    I already opened a Formuler support ticket and can provide the serial number, MAC ID, invoice, and photos of the error message privately to Formuler staff/admins.

    How to Resolve a Formuler Geo-Block

    • Contact the Seller: Reach out directly to your retailer. Official sellers have direct access to Formuler's distributor tools to submit a ticket and whitelist your device's MAC address or serial number. [1, 2, 3]
    • Provide Device Information: Have your box's MAC address and Serial Number (found on the bottom sticker of the box) ready when contacting support. [1, 2]
    • Avoid Factory Resets: Do not try to continuously factory reset the box. Resetting will not clear a Formuler region block and may complicate the verification process. [1, 2]


    Result is from google ai.

    Yup we’re north Africa but I did some searching and it seems Africa is not supported by Formuler which is a bummer because I really wanted to try this device out.

    Regarding ur 2nd msg, thank you for the suggestion. I tried to contact Amazon but they always redirect me to Formuler official website since the seller on Amazon is Formuler themselves. I opened a ticket here but the CS agent told me to contact my seller too 🥲 I clarified to them that my seller is Fomuler on Amazon and still waiting for a reply.


    I’ll probably wait for 48 hours and see if there is any hope of this issue getting resolved and if not, I’ll probably proceed with return/refund from Amazon. Hopefully they don’t give me a hard time about it since its an international shipment.

    There is only one way what i know my friend:


    First install on your phone a vpn with a connection to usa (new york or so)!! That's the most important step!


    If that is really on the vpn and you have checked on a whatismyip website where you are located, it must show usa ofcourse and sometimes a city!!!

    City must be in USA! SO NOT IN CANADA!!!


    Second: buy a NEW formuler box on usa website if old box not work due block. But try first old Z11 please what you now have please!


    DON'T PLUG IN A ETHERNET CABLE!!


    IF IT ASK FOR WIFI: MAKE FROM YOUR PHONE (WITH VPN CONNECTION TO USA) A WIFI HOTSPOT!! If you dont know how ask or use Google. Free vpn's enough.


    Connect your box to your phones wifi (which is connected to usa, what you checked before)

    Afther wifi connection follow steps and update device only.


    If software/firmware update is done by the box it should reboot itself.


    After reboot box it should automatic take your phone's hotspot wifi (with vpn to usa)


    Then it should be fine. Download from Formuler market app (Green logo with white trolly) the app: "Soundoptimzer" and install and run it once it click on LOAD!


    Box reboot again after sound optimizer installed and loaded.

    Then you should disconnect wifi hotspot.

    And use own wifi or way better: an direct ethernet cable from router to box.


    P.S: don't know if it works at blocked box or only at new formuler box from USA.

    (Try first on old box, before you send it back!)

    If you tried it on your box you have now, and it won't work.

    Send it back!

    Buy new one from official store who sell usa boxes. (Or a european box, but connect your vpn then to an european city like amsterdam, brussels, berlin etc. But NO UK city due it's not at europe)


    And then before turning on the new box...

    ...first install a vpn on your phone and connect to usa!!!


    Then create wifi hotspot from your phone (if VPN TO USA IS ON) and follow my steps above...

    After all steps (firmware/software update and install audio optimizer) and a reboot you should disconnect your wifi hotspot and use your own wifi and should work...:smiling_face:
