I updated using this beta today because I was having problems with ‘Failed to load VOD Data’ error in movies and also in tv shows.
Live tv is just a black screen on every channel when this happens.
This could be temporary provider issue.
What you can do is only to improve your connection with network and give your box static ip instead of dhcp (smoother conn.) + clear cache and data from MOL2 app.
"Failed to load VOD Data" message appear in most cases if the connection is unstable or Provider work on VOD/series content/data or panel.
But please discuss this in other thread and not in this Beta thread where we discuss only featuers from new Beta update, because your issue was also before this update. Thx for understanding.

How would I give my box a static up address?
Trough Box or Router ( i guess fritzbox 
) for currently existent ip for your box. If fritzbox, find under network your Z 8 -> edit -> and check "give this device always same address".
But before you start now to change your settings, ask first your provider if they have problems with VOD/Series.
If i understand you right, you have two Z8 working , the one works fine but the other not. Provider is same for both boxes, for each box one different subscription? Please give me detailed informations, connection info (Stalker, XC Api, m3u Playlist), ethernet or wifi etc. please don`t let me fish, my time is rare

Do you think leaving it unplugged would have done anything beneficial?
Not really, but from time to time it is not bad to make the box powerless at least for 10 sec. so everything can initialise on motherboard from start. Reboots doing the same.
