CEC - Z8 is turning AVR and TV on

Hello. Having a ball with my new Z8 and IPTV, but a problem with CEC.

I have my Samsung TV, Onkyo AVR, and Z8 all enabled for CEC.

All HDMI CEC options are enabled in Z8 Settings.

Z8 Power is set to Standby.

Z8 remote is programmed to my TV remote.

All firmware/apps up to date (release, not beta).

When I use the remote to power everything off, it works fine. But shortly after, the Z8 powers itself up and turns the TV and the AVR back on.

I've tried juggling the CEC setting without much benefit, but it seems I can set the Z8 to power off with TV and it will stay off, but set to power on with TV, it boots itself up and then the other 2 devices.

Not sure what's happening. Any thoughts and replies appreciated.

I think I have solved this. I can now turn everything on/off with the STB button. I turned off "Turn on with TV" in Z8 CEC settings. I think my Samsung in standby was sending a wakeup to the Z8.

Still confused here. Thought it was working, then it wasn't.

Pushed STB button yesterday, only Z8 turned on. Reset all the Z8 CEC, then it worked. This morning, no...

2 questions:

1. When using CEC, who is in charge? Are the devices all equal and any one should turn on the rest?

2. If CEC is active, what button(s) should I be using to start everyone up? TV? STB? Both?

Yes, AVR and TV are connected using ARC via the single ARC-capable input on the TV, but I only use ARC when I use the apps on the Smart TV to feed back to the AVR. ARC is always-on on that TV port. ARC is switchable on/off in AVR settings. Z8 is connected to a HDCP 2.2 input on the AVR, not the TV's other port.

Thinking maybe it was ARC that was starting up the Z8, I turned of ARC in the AVR, I turned on "Power on with TV", shut everything down again, and the Z8 powered itself up.

I'll keep digging, but I think I may be stuck with a 2 button power on scheme. Not the worst thing that could happen.

I may be mistaken, but I think then I'd be limited to the TV speakers? Or maybe I'd have to run an optical cable back to the AVR.

Frankly, I'm amazed any of this stuff works as well as it does!
