Screen goes Black for about a second periodically

I have owned the Formuler z8 Pro for about 9 days now and I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced their picture going black for about 1 second periodically.

I have swapped out the HDMI cable that I had connected with the one that came with the Formuler Z8 Pro and have Updated the Firmware and the MyTvOnline2 software also, but it still has that issue of the screen going black. I have a few other Android boxes and a Firestick 4k that don't seem to have this black screen issue.

I am connected to an IPTV provider via an Ethernet cable and subscribe to a 1 Gigabit Internet Service. I have rebooted my Formuler Z8 Pro, cleared the Cache, and performed just about every other suggestion I am aware of.

The Formuler Z8 does Record programming reliably and with the Time Shifting, I am able to Pause, Fast Forward, and Rewind programming too. The only problem seems to be the fade to black for about a second periodically. Any help in finding a remedy to this issue would be appreciated. Thanks...

Set in MOL settings AFR to off if this happens through zapping.

I will try that suggestion Sam. Thank You. But it doesn't happen while changing the channel, it seems to happen while watching programming and it happens randomly periodically.

Then this could be something with HDMI.

Test following:

- Test with other HDMI cable

- Use other HDMI port on TV

- Turn HDCP off or use 1.4

- Use lower Resolution with changed hz.

Sam, I have already changed out my HDMI cable. I will try another HDMI port on the TV. I am not sure where the other settings are you mention. The "Turn HDCP off or use 1.4" and "Use lower Resolution changed hz".

Thank you Sam for this advice. Was annoyed by the short black-out when switching. Setting AFR to off solved this. Great, wasn't aware of this option! Is there any downside of turning AFR off?

Depends from user, if streams with 25hz are ok for you instead of 50hz and you don`t see big difference, then is all fine.

I am still working through my issues of the screen periodically going black for a second. I do notice that when I am watching a movie that it doesn't happen but seems to only happen during a tv program. Just wondering if that means anything.

Please check if the AFR option is enabled, a short black screen can be shown due to the frame rate adjustment by this option.

Go to Mytvonline 2 > Menu > Settings > look for AFR option.

Turn off the AFR option, if you do not want to see this short black screen for frame rates adjustment.

I am experiencing exactly the same issue. I have tried to turn off AFR but with no luck. I have tested tree different HDMI cables specified for UHD 4K@60Hz and 18Gbit. I have tested switching to another HDMI input on the TV, still with no luck

The screen just goes black with no audio for a second or two. Sometimes it is 10 minutes between the "black outs", sometimes it can occur just 30 seconds apart.. If I am watching something - series, VOD or live, the stream seem to continue in the background.

NOTE: The issue can also occur when I am in the main android menu, i.e. MOL2 is not running.

Oh, and I got my Z8 pro last week..

I have found the reason for the short, intermittent, black outs that I was experiencing.

It WAS caused by bad HDMI cables - ALL of them!! It is replicated and verified.

Sorry for taking so long to respond to this issue but I also wanted to make sure before posting that it had been finally resolved. I did everything suggested on the Forum. I even purchased a newer updated HDMI cable but what finally stopped my screen from going black was changing the HDMI input port on the back of my television. I went from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 and it stopped the issue. I couldn't believe that doing only that could correct this issue. Thanks for all of everyone's input.
