  • Hi - I recently had to switch over from ethernet to wifi connection, thinking this might resolve the issue at hand, however the problem is still unresolved.

I'm not sure what those 3 vertical bars are for in the upper right corner of the screen, but wherever they greyout, which every 15-20 minutes, streaming stops no matter which source, resulting in error message over a black screen 'An error occurred : HttpDataSourceException'. The only way to bring the reception back to life is to restart the receiver. I'm unable to figure out how to resolve this issue. The occurs regardless whether it is connected via WiFi or CAT 5e.

Btw: I'm aware the downward curves bars represent wifi signal but not sure what is the 3 vertical bars signal are for, indicating what strength exactly? Since the vertical bars are the ones that keep on greying out every 15-20 minutes, it important to know what purpose it serves.

Your insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Info:

    150 Mbps D/U

no issue with all other devices, no disconnects.

I upgraded to GTV after using Z+ for awhile. Z+ did not lose whatever signal that is for, using either connection method.

  • It's the buffer, set it to 10 sec.

    Thank you for your response.

I got it - now it makes sense.

I've changed it to 10 on my way out. It was set at 0 (defaul).

I'll leave it running till I'm back tonight. I'll report the result.

  • It's the buffer, set it to 10 sec.

Just called my daughter from outside, she said it's been running solid, without any hiccups or glitch since I followed your advice!

    You're awesome!!!

*** I know 100% it would've froze by now, showing the inferior error mentioned above.

Thank you again for sharing your insights and helping me, and I'm sure many, many others that are experiencing the same issue, lacking the understanding of what these vertical signal bars were for. It's all clearer now.

  • Here's the update after it's been running for the most part. I'm not sure when this error occurred today, but this error has showed up on several other occasions. I usually see it after the receiver has been on for 6-8 hours. I have several other Formuler models, but that error is new to GTV.

Any idea what's causing this error? Unlike the buffer issue whereby the only way to recover streaming is to restart the STB, this particular error requires to press the Back button on the remote

    'An error occurred : HttpDataSourceException.'

  • YES!!!

By disabling [Enable IPv6] (which was enabled by default) in Settings>Network & Internet, all error messages and random reboots are gone - finally - it's been running 48 hrs straight without a single issue.
