Just got myself a z8 and having WiFi speed problems, connected to 5Ghz and getting really awful speeds, should be around 70Mb and getting below 20Mb, I’ve also got a shield next too it and tried same speedtest on that and the speed is fine so is there a wireless card problem with these boxes or something, thinking about sending back and switching back to the shield if I can’t find a solution. Thanks.

make sure the external wifi antenna is screwed in all the way.
move the antennas on the Z8 and the router to achieve the best wireless coverage and throughput

I had to buy a new one as the original was lost, but it is screwed in perfectly, thing is my shield gets perfect speeds right next too it so I’m guessing that’s just better as receiving a signal from distance, I moved the z8 next to the router and speeds were perfect so definitely the distance causing the problem for the z8.

got the same problem with my z8 pro that's why I use ethernet,my sheild next to it connected to my mesh wifi is solid,ive always felt the wifi and ethernet on this box isn't optimised very good,and there's alot of complaints about vpn speeds,seem to be crippled on this box aswell,ive tried nord/express vpn on it and on a good day it maxes out at 80mb on my 300mb connection on a good server but can drop to as little as 30mb but the same vpn on my nvidia sheild /firecube/odroid n2 get over 200mb

Yes wifi definitely seems to be crap on this box for sure, I’ve resorted back to my shield now was only gonna use the z8 for the myonline app, if only you could get that app on other devices I don’t think this box would be all that to be honest and nowhere near as popular, the z8 is even slower than my shield when using it, very sluggish, so I don’t think I could use it as my main box even if the wifi problems didn’t exist, all it has going for it in my opinion is that app.

Just wondering what you need high speed for on a TV box? I stream 4K at like 6Mbps on a 50Mbps line. Games?

Definitely a wifi problem on these boxes. I have been constantly battling wifi disconnects and lag using wifi on this box. I finally connected it to Ethernet and problem solved. Not impressed with the wifi at all

When my ordinary service was down I connected my 4g router via wifi to the box and I had speed up to 100, worked flawlessly for me for a week on until the fiber was back again.😁

agree the cpu isn't fast enough,mytvonline app is fast enough but if you try to use android apk like kodi/syncler it brings it to its knees,the only way I'm happy is i don't install any apk and jst use the box for iptv as I've got my shield for apps,it runs a tablet os which I hate and if the mytvonline app wasn't so good I'd have sent it bck,my advice to anyone is its great for jst iptv and to buy a firestick for apps

Wifi is such a good thing, really.
One of my customers had a matrix glitch every time is wife goes to the bathroom.
She presses the light switch and the stream in the box stops after some seconds as is WiFi got interrupted.
This is just an example.
Think, if WiFi was a good solution for streaming all operators would have official set-top boxes connected via WiFi.
That is how much WiFi is good.
In my opinion of course...
