This does not work for the top category on the home screen.

The name of the top category is "Apps".

When you "press and hold" "OK" you can only rearrange them to the left or to the right.

You do not get a popup to delete icons from that specific top Apps bar.

Also in the "Launcher Settings" this "Apps" menu bar does not allow any customization, because it simply cannot be chosen in the "Launcher Settings".

Yes this is normal. If you don't want this you can disable the Samba service on the Z device.

Are you using VPN?

I tried to explain the issue is probably not caused by the Formuler hardware/software.

If you transcode the file (with for example ffmpeg) you will be able to jump in the timeline.

Is there a difference when you record the same channel at the same provider between manual recording and scheduled recording?

My guess:

The videostream isn't "indexed".

Since the MOL software only records the raw stream, without transcoding, the problem would be at the source. The provider.

In VLC or in MOL? Can you try multiple players? Even beyond just those.

Use the cursor key on the remote to activate the mouse pointer and arrow keys to move it, "OK" is left-click.

Or attach a USB (or bluetooth) mouse.

Test it yourself. For example here.

I recommend using NTFS. Other filesystems ran me into "random" problems.

If you are not using VPN yet I strongly recommend that. Even if you do not have issues. But for sure it can cause strange issues like this and black screens etc...

I have never tried surfshark. Normally I can get 25MB/s per NordVPN client.

There are so many variables... Z7/Firmware/MOL/JVM/Network/Routers/VPN/Subscription/Provider/etc... Especially when it is resolved and when it cannot be reproduced after a restart finding a root-cause is very unlikely.

Ok, and some of the other basic questions I have to ask, because you did not provide any details as recommended by the forum template:

What Firmware version/MOL2 version are you using?

Did it work better/normally before and then it stopped working after a certain date/action? Upgrade/Reboot/etc...?

And my earlier question? Did you try other apps? If no, try and let us know if it makes a difference.

Maybe a provider issue? Did you try other apps?

Try to see Z7/MOL as a "car". The car is fully functional and in front of your house. But without you, the driver/owner it wil not go anywhere. You decide which navigation you use, when you will drive, how much you will drive, and where you will drive. And it is not a taxi.

Following that analogy. Formuler (and this forum) is the car company. Where you ask for support and warranty if you have questions about the hardware (Z7/Z8/etc) and software (MOL/MOL2). The car company does not give directions about where and when to drive.

Yes. I understood that. I tried to explain that on the Z8 the "shark app" might be a specific "fork" with a performance issue not seen on other "platforms"/"packages".

And first you say Z8 was 10, now you say 40. And it is not clear if the 102 on Mi9 is with VPN on or off. But doesn't matter much as I just tried to give some possible direction of what might cause this.

If I were you I would contact surfshark support because there is no reason why Formuler hardware/software might be the root-cause for what you see here.

I have NordVPN on Z8, and because I liked it so much I extended the subscription to last many years when they offered a big discount on their website, which I checked daily for many weeks.

Sorry, my mistake.

This was my confusion:

I have 1.4.46 which is an old "Official" release.

I assumed I had 1.4.56.

The "56" numbers exists in my MOL2 version being 7.5.6

Just an IP is not enough. There needs to be a "service" listening on a port. The service that you choose is first limited by what FileZilla supports and then limited further by what packages are available to run the server on the Formuler box.

I assumed Zx does not have FTP by default.

The second-easiest would then be if the Zx has for example Samba/SMB and FileZilla also has SMB/CiFs support

I've seen myftpserver in an other article for Z8, perhaps the software also works on other Formuler hardware.

I guess. If you can find a ftp server apk/xapk package which does not require the root user and allows a ftp server listening port above 1024 you should be able todo that.

Maybe a firewall or VPN blocking the connection to the update server(s)?

Both functionality you mention there is working for me with Z8.

If it does not work (on whatever hardware model) I don't think you/we should first try to find a problem in Formuler hardware/software.

FW version 1.4.54 is not the latest official release for Z8, perhaps update first?
