Hi all. Have bought a z mini for my boy in his bedroom, but having nothing but issues with the resolution.
When you start it up, it comes in and shows up on TV as 1080p (as expected). But by time the formuler logo comes up it keeps defaulting to a horrible 480....this can't be changed in settings once it's loaded. 
I've tried different tvs, different ports, factory resetting, hard resetting, updating.... Nothing is working, and is pretty much unusable as is..
Make sure you're plugging the mini's HDMI cable directly into the TV without any extension cables in between.
Also, make sure you are using the USB power adapter that came with the Z mini and not one of the USB ports on the TV and try again.

I see "sharp" as brand. Old tv from my parents from 2012 was highest 1080i.
How old is the tv, Cause its for your son.
You tested different ports, and tvs.
But also different hdmi cable?

Does your boys tv have QMS(Quick Media Switching) feature,as for this feature to work it needs to be present on the tv too.
It seems to be a possible issue because it keeps changing back to 480?
In zmini info thread it is well explained by SAM,maybe you can get some additional info from this thread.
Please connect the original HDMI Cable from Formuler Box and do factory reset if nothing change.
Good morning all. So I seem to have fixed the issue, but will report back after a decent amount of time, by connecting it into hdmi port 3 rather than port 1 on the TV. No idea why this would make a difference but has.

On my new lg tv nanocell with miniled from 2024, i have hdmi 2.1 port 3&4 and they are 120hz 4k.
Hdmi Port 1 and 2 are hdmi arc and without 120hz or so.
I saw it on the stickers behind the tv.

Because it depends from TV HDMI Port and settings for this, box and TV when turned on have HDMI Handshake and the Box get from TV the info what is possible. If older TV, they have different HDMI ports, one can do more then other etc.
