  • I have a router that produces IP address as 10.0.0.***. The z8 box will not accept this. I leave the ip address blank. and set everything else up. ie network prefix: 24 DNS: 1.1.1.1 2ndDNS: 1.0.0.1.

When I go back to the main menu network settings icon shows not connected but in the side menu it states connected. But on what looks like an IPV6 address.

any ideas on how t0 connect to the internet. I am hardwired of course and wifi is turned off in the menu. I am trying to fix my buffer issues also

  • The z8 box will not accept this

This question should be moved to Z8 part of the forum

I have a router that produces IP address as 10.0.0.***

That is a class A network. Especially home networks should use the non routable class C: 192.168.*.*

Do you know why your router is set to 10.*?

Do you know howto change the DHCP server settings in the router?

am trying to fix my buffer issues also

    Are you using VPN?

  • I managed to get it to accept the 10. IP address. ot sure how. I disabled IPV6 and it even filled in the IP address with the correct 10.0.0.??? for me after a reset.

It is through Shaw. It is there own blucurve router/modem. It doesn't have a model number name or make on it. the 10.**** is how it came set up. Is this a bad thing? It seems to work on everything else.

No I am not running it through a VPN although I do have 1 it is switched off..

I have isabled ipv6 on the Z8 box and this seemed to do the trick and also stop mu buffer issues. Is this a coincidence or could the IPv6 have been interfering with the IPV4 connection. I have been told by a network proffesional that IPv6 is useless, old and nobody uses it anymore and should be disabled on everything!.........

  • The 10 network is not bad if it works. But it would be high on my list to change, if it does not work.

If disabling ipv6 on the Z8 solved your issue I would say any issue with that protocol version originated in the router/modem. Would need to enable some detailed logging in that modem, and technical analysis to be able to proof that. Not worth it now, because the issue is "resolved" already.

IPv6 is not useless. Broadband providers and corporations use it. And many others have abandoned it. Both is true.
