1st Official Post

    You can sideload apks via many methods.

    Add Gdrive / Dropbox in Xplore and load all apks in gdrive/dropbox and install direct from there

    Downloader (from googleplay) if using a url.

    Filelinked

    Apk Time
    put apks on a usb and install via file manager or xplore.

    And a few others.

    There is no jailbreak, you can side load apks with ease.

    Adding to danny121pt's post, would expect all methods on other certified android tv boxes to work.

    Seen many guides to side load on android tv boxes.

    All streaming companies like Netflix, Now tv , BBC iplayer, ITV hub etc will have certified apps - so expect full support.

    Would like to see a thread on here for users who have customised their GTV to post screen shots.

    Certification for Netflix is very very hard, I am sure they will be looking at avenues surrounding that.

    NowTV (can cast to GTV) is exclusive to Sony Android TVs currently on android tv os platform (so doesn't work on other brands like nvidia, google tv also)

    Those apps do not come with the google certification or the chrome cast implementation, its a different cert process.

    UK catchups like BBC and ITV hub also need certification in general on all android tv os boxes which again is a lengthy process, MY5 doesn't needs certs and dplay now Discovery + doesn't either and of course All4 is not on android tv os (bar dedicated freeview play box), I am talking on Android TV OS overall.

    Formuler GTV page - no mention of Netflix.

    From Netflix website,

    Using Netflix on smart TVs, streaming media players, game consoles, set-top boxes, or Blu-ray players

    Most devices provide Netflix as a pre-installed app that you can access from the main menu, or from a Netflix button on your remote. If you can't find Netflix from the main menu or remote, it's possible that your device has an app store you can download the Netflix app from. If you can't find the app store or don't see Netflix offered, contact your device manufacturer to learn how you can access Netflix.

    Yes, sam is one person and thank you for your kind words but there are also 175n and Jennie + many other community supporters helping out here. Community are not few people it is everyone who are active participant, answer and try to help. Big Thanks to all of them:thumbs_up:

    I agree with danny and greenfordraj about what they write and can only say, get the box and try it. What future updates will show, we will see, but like i know Formuler it will be definitely higher step like in the past with other Formuler boxes. All step by step, meanwhile use your new box what for it is made :winking_face:

    So last night I was bored and thought maybe I could make life easier and get around side loading

    Now... I need a get out of jail free card...LOL

    I side loaded the normal Google Play store and I think...nah I'm sure now I used the wrong Google account Manager version, and Frame work version...or maybe i should have removed the Android version...and they're fighting each other

    Anyway...it didn't work and I got sleepy and my son woke up 1st today & instead of using his GTV he tried to use his sisters GTV, and restarted it...before I could factory restore it...

    Now my experiment has taken a turn

    YEAH...LOL

    The main home screen is non functional but on a hard start up - MOL will come on and function as normal..it works.

    But after I exit... or tap the HOME button - its a wrap.

    Black screen

    I can't get into settings to select factory restore at this point

    But

    Pressing buttons I've gotten a few apps tabs to appear on the home screen...

    Pressing buttons I've gotten into the app tab screen once

    Pressing buttons I've gotten into the Formuler update screen once

    Exiting MOL the home screen appeared normal with everything for about 15 secs then went black

    Yeah this is all my bad...

    I need a file or a keypad combination to restore this device

    When you have time.

    In the mean time...

    I've been trying to reproduce getting into system update or the app screen...no luck yet

    Only thing thats consistent is MOL and a Black Home screen
