Anybody with any experience of warranty return with a Z8 and the time it takes. Sent back to the seller, who sent it back to Formuler. Trying to find out how long Formuler take to resolve. Seller say they are chasing Formuler. Formuler tell me to talk to seller and so on...........Everything but an answer.

How old is it? You have cover from seller for a period then manufacturer

It would be upto your seller to sort, as he would have been the one who went through the channels to return opposed to you doing via tickets etc.
Although depending on where you're based I would assume it could take a while based on logistics, testing and returning or what not.
How long has it been so far?
Is the seller a reputable one?
How old was box prior to issue? -
Sent back two weeks ago to distributor
Reputable distributor
Under warranty - 6 months old
Purchased and sent back in Spain
Z8 stuck on red light - did the red button tapping whilst powering on and attempting to boot software from USB - none worked
As it was six months old should I have sent directly to manufacturer?

You did it right, always first to seller and the seller send the unit to Manufacturer for repair. Didn`t the seller say how much time it will take?

They keep avoiding answering - just say that they will keep chasing. Last response to the same question.
Q - Could you confirm when it will be sent?
A - Dont know yet when it will be delivered. Ill let you know

This is now the third time this Z8 has failed. 1st time I managed after several attempts over a few days to upload the firmware from USB. The red button reset failed to do anything after retrying many times. USB did eventually work just before I was about to give up and send it back to Formuler. In November the same thing happened - difference was it had to go back to distributor, then manufacturer who got it working and sent it back to distributor who sent it to me. Box was away three weeks - very inconvenient. Now the same thing has happened again, just over three months from when it was returned. Distributor asked me to send back so they could send to manufacturer. here we go again another three week exercise. Is there any way of contacting Formuler as clearly this receiver has an issue. Its barely nine months old. Distributor said he would talk to manufacturer but I am not convinced the disti is that bothered. Is there any way of contacting Formuler direct as this situation is totally unacceptable. The product is totally unreliable and I want it replaced with a working , reliable Z8.

Before i send you PM, please answer me this question.
1st time I managed after several attempts over a few days to upload the firmware from USB.
1. There is no Firmware you can install from USB, so how did you that and what exactly did you install?
2. We speak always about same box and label. Distributor or seller didn`t replaced the box?

1. Check update.ird file integrity before proceeding
2. Copy update.ird to USB root
3. Power off S-Series device
4. Insert USB into S-Series device
5. Power on S-Series device while repeatedly pressing the CH-UP button on the RCU. (Don't hold the button down. Press it repeatedly)
6. Update progress bar appears on the screen. Stop pressing the CH-UP button
7. Wait for the progress bar to reach 100%. The device will reboot automatically when finished.
2 - The same Z8 each time - at least it has the same Mac ID so I assume the same Z8
The support Forum indicated that the Z8 uses the same software even though the notes with the download refer to the S-Series. Regardless of that the same issue occurred in late November, ultimately returned to Formuler who resolved the issue of not being able to switch the Z8 on (I have no idea what they did as no diagnostics provided) which has now failed again.

1. Is for S Series factory reset tool and not needed for Z8. Has nothing to do with Firmware update like you wrote in post before.
2. Can you please tell me in few words what exactly doesn't work?
Did you done updates in this 9 Months?

Updates are always done immediately they appear
Red Light on Z8 cant turn it on. Tried a different remote same issue - so not the remote. Removed power cable - waited - insert power cable - immediately red light - cant turn on. Removed power cable overnight - plugged back in - immediately red light - cant turn on. Only red light. Normally if you remove the power cable and plug back in the light flashes - this Z8 immediately goes to Red Light - no flashing

If you cannot get the Z8 to turn on - it just has a red light - how do you use integrated factory reset method?

Thanks for the info. However, with the current box I sent back that method does not work. I was tapping the red button and my wife inserting the power. I was tapping before she plugged in. Tried about 20 times AND after leaving it overnight unplugged. Also tried the USB method Same situation except tapping the CH Up button. In both scenarios the light on the Z8 remains a steady red until such time as my tapping finger was too tired to continue. I was using a SanDisk 4GB USB device formatted for Fat32
