  • This is my first post so Hi All:thumbs_up:.

I am looking at getting one of the above and would like some advice.

With the GTV being Android 9 while the Z8 is 7...I am presuming I will get more use out of the GTV for longer because the GTV is a later version of Android.

From what I have read the GTV is new so can be a little buggy and I am again thinking any bugs will get ironed out with time, also I am not that bothered about the voice remote control and would rather have the Mirror Control like on the Z8 that I can use with the keyboard on my other android device when and if needed.

So my questions are, is there a side app that I can install on the GTV to allow me to get and use Mirror Control on the GTV and is my presumption correct about the longevity of the GTV when compared to the Z8?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dom.

  • I own Z8 and GTV and love both. Z8 has been around longer and has bugs fixed. GTV being new has few bugs which I'm sure will be taken care off soon. GTV has a nice GUI and picture quality seems good.

I have loaded Prime and few other Streaming apps which run without any issues. Remote has a nice feel.I believe they are both Awesome boxes.

  • i have at my router a usb harddisk.

So i can with my z8 via "File Browser" by my harddisk via lan network.

How can a friend of my do that with his gtv?

    @ Lucky133,

I don't know if you have resolved this because your post is from 23rd March or if this is what you are after...but there is a file browser of sorts on the GTV called File Commander that can be used to link to a PC or other device and screenshots and I presume other files can be downloaded if both are connected by Wifi to your router, I have also download stuff to my Samsung Android tablet.

I used File Commander with a USB Drive and did try a USB Harddrive that was recognised, I have been able to side load an IPTV App that wouldn't work correctly when downloaded from Google play store using a USB and also done some test recording on IPTV and taken some screenshots and downloaded them to my PC.

My problem with the GTV is having paid for the GTV when a lot of other Android devices are cheaper, I don't think it is very good that if I want a full version of File Commander I would be paying £4.69 a month for the Premium version...it is not worth £56.28 a year! So that is not going to happen and I will be looking for other options in the future.

    Kind regards

    James.
