  • Problem: MOL2 becomes unresponsive and stops working after a few hours using a NAS network device for storage.

    After two days of testing this issue with my GTV 10.0.15 & MOL2 release 10.0.16, it appears that using a network storage location for local storage causes several problems;

    • MOL2 will stop and become unresponsive to most remote control commands
    • Only the HOME key functions on the remote control in MOL2 (you can exit MOL2)
    • Some other apps will become unresponsive and fail to load/run (YouTube for example)

Unmounting the NAS in Settings will not fully restore MOL2; you must UNMOUNT & DELETE the connection first. You also need a GTV Restart to clear the issue after the Unmount & Delete.

I would be happy to provide more detailed if the DEVs need a test site.

  • How unkind of me to not have mentioned that the NAS storage feature does work! Yes, it seems to have an issue, but as a storage device it works and works well.

    See my attachments.

    Cheers!

  • Hello,

Could you provide the logs of the issue so that the developers look into the issue, please?

    https://support.formuler.tv/kb/article/82-…-and-send-logs/

If you can't send the logs of the issue because the remote doesn't respond, please follow the instruction below.

    1. Disconnect an Ethernet cable from your device and wait for one minute
    2. Press any button on your remote so that you can check if the remote is working or not
    3. If it's working fine, unmount any NAS from your device
    4. Connect the Ethernet cable to your device again.
    5. Send the logs and provide the tracking number of the logs.

    Thanks,

  • Do you often put the device into standby mode?

Do you have the system screensaver enabled?

[Sleep] for power off (is this standby?).

Yes, [screensaver] enabled (Colors after 15 min.)

    Thanks,

I will reset and add the NAS back in for storage and see what I can do to get the logs.

When MOL2 "hangs" and the remote has no action, it appears the MOL2 is itself hung and therefore not responding to the buttons except for the HOME (Exit the app) button. It's not that the remote itself has stopped working. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Where do I find the logs? I've managed to hang it in only a few minutes but don't know where the logs are. :loudly_crying_face:

Edited once, last by morden2004: OK, I have sent the LOGs but there didn't seem to be any Tracking Number on the screen/form. Anyway, the timestamp should be 2021-07-05 18:49:00 or close to that. (July 5, 2021 at 11:52 PM).

  • I tried again but no Tracking Number that I can see.

Here is the scenario for creating the hang:

Set RECORDING on in a channel. Wait a few minutes and CANCEL recording.

Enter MENU and select [Recordings]. GTV hangs at this point - no response to any remote control keys except for HOME.

If you wait, the MOL2 will exit in about 30-60 seconds.

Restart MOL2 and you have a blank screen. Then wait, and after 90-120 seconds, MOL2 returns to active (showing the last channel viewed).

  • [Sleep] for power off (is this standby?).

    Yes, [Sleep] is standby mode.

Do you often press the STB power button on the remote to put your device to sleep?

In the System Screensaver settings, what is the value of the "Put device to sleep" parameter?

  • Yes, [Sleep] is standby mode.

Do you often press the STB power button on the remote to put your device to sleep?

In the System Screensaver settings, what is the value of the "Put device to sleep" parameter?

No, only use STB power button at end of day or leaving home.

"Put device ..." value is 3 hours.

    Hi,

Please follow the instruction below to send the logs of the issue

    1. Unplug your power cable and plug the cable back in
    2. Reproduce the issue with your device
    3. Go to Home > Android Settings > About > Report a Problem > Send logs

Before Sending logs, please write down your Tracking # on the left-side of the screen
    4. Reply to your ticket with the tracking# in step 3
  • I tried it but could not reproduce the issue. it was working normally.

I sent you a direct message. please check our conversation for more instructions.

  • I am now running without the LAN storage option. I am now using a 32GB USB stick until this issue is fixed.

  • Nowhere have you mentioned what NAS you are using?

Even network storages has their limits when it comes to handling videos.

It is a QNAP TS-421 NAS. Pretty standard stuff. The issue is with the GTV. It does record fine to the NAS. However, MOL2 eventually goes (choose one) A) to sleep, B) into a loop.

  • Isn`t there a setting that prevent Mol2 from going to standby mode?

As I can recall qnap is well known for claiming their products has gigabit ports and that aint the case. Might be the softwares that cant keep up the handshaking, the logs can show you if there is missing parcels that causes the issues.

As I said, the GTV records fine (100%) to the QNAP NAS. The recording is perfect. The network speeds I achieve are within expected ranges with my QNAP on my Gigabit LAN (50+ Mbps).

The setting you are referring to is for the POWER button.

As I said in an earlier message, the issue is somehow related to using the NAS as a storage device and that is the only feature that causes my GTV to become unresponsive. Performing an UNMOUNT is not sufficient to avoid the problem. You have to DELETE the connection.

I have summitted error logs to the team.
