When I set up scheduled recording, many times it will not record. First I thought it was due to NAS HDD sleep so I changed to USB memory, but it's even worse. How can I see what is wrong? How can I see system files and logs, the file browsers I tried say that I have no permission to look in the system areas, I did give permission & set to show hidden files as well.
Not recording properly, see log files?

Ensure the external storage is in the correct format that the device supports. Reformat your USB to FAT32 and try again.

Thank for fast answer. USB-stick is correctly formatted by the Z11. Today I tried more, scheduled 3 recordings, two worked fine, but the last one that should have finished 15 min ago is no where to be find. No notifications either. Very frustrating. Sorry I can not provide video of "nothing". I also just send log to you using the Help Center app.

I think I watched the error in real time while now using the NAS drive instead of the USB-stick. I had a scheduled recording. I closed the MOL3 app (last line in the settings menu) and put the Z11 box in sleep with the power botton of the remote. Because I can see the files from the computer, I realise that the "_info.json" file and the ".m3u8" file was correctly created at the starting time of the recording, but no ".ts" file had been created! When I manually started the MOL3 app from the remote control and I can see that the ".ts" file was created (creation date 6 minutes too late). Another channel (the one last used) was shown. I put the box to sleep again. Checking the files again some minutes later I realise that the recording had ended too early, only 2min 17 seconds / 43MB was recorded.
Many recordings ends just after a few minutes even if the Notifications say it ends the correct time even.
Also behaviour seems to depend on if you are recording the same channel that you watched / last watched or if you are recording another.
I’m so confused. Sometime no recording at all and no notifications. Sometimes just records a few minutes with Notifications as normal.
If the recording will succeed seems to depend on different factors, if you watching the same time or not. If you record the same channel that you are watching or have been watching or not. If recording starts from sleep or not. If recording starts from closed app or not. If you operate (starts app if not running, close app while while running, change channel, use menus) while recording or not.
I have done more test now. If I watched the same channel as the next on schedule for being recorded, its may working?, at least the last two was recording successfully this way. Then I schedule another four on different channels (put the box into sleep with the power button while the app was running). Out of these four only two recorded correctly - first one ok, second one was was only 1:51 recording instead of 40 min (Notificaions tell the same 1:51), third ok, fourth missing (no notification), When I later turned on the TV to check it was dark, pressing power button to wake the box from sleep show the desktop - the app had been closed.
So it looks that using NAS for recording instead of USB-stick also have the similar kind of problems with missing recordings.
I will give up using this box for recording now & hope you can solve this issues as soon as possible!
I send log file to you some 50 min later then the last recording should have ended, #1995104

I'm a bit confused here...
Although the Z11 Series supports FAT32, I was under the impression that the "correct" (preferred) format was NTSC.
Also, although the external USB/SSD can be formatted directly with the Formuler box, in order to get 'optimum' formatting results, we were told (in multiple Forum threads) to download the "Rufus" formatting tool and use it to format the USB to NTSC?
Is the process to 'format to NTSC via Rufus' no longer relevant?

No need to be confused. The device support FAT32 and NTFS, for obvious reasons is NTFS of course the better format.

I think most (not all) of my recording problems on the Z11 Pro Max BT1 (Bluetooth controlled) was because I have an old OEM Enigma2 TV-box connected to another HDMI-input on the TV those remote control also accidentally controlled the Z11!! From my message #5 on I also had an Z10 on the third HDMI-input that also did the same!! So big warning if you are using old IR controlled TV-boxes in the same room - make sure they not accidentally control the new Z11 box!!! Now I move Z10 to another room and used black electictal tape to cover the on/off light guide of the Z11 and surrounding areas on top, front and right side of the box + moved behind the TV with some blocking light barriers in front (it was very hard to shield it from IR-light actually).
I tried another nine recordings now and all but one was working as expected. The one failed was only recording one minute and it was scheduled directly after on just finish (same minute). In addition to that I hade a "Network error" showing after one of these recordings that I manually confirmed with the back button just after recording finished, so I dont know if it would have blocked the next scheduled recording or not.
It would be nice if the Z11 bluetooth controlled box had the IR-sensor turned off by default and an option to turn it on in the menu. I guess it is not only me that upgrade their old boxes to this new box with bluetooth remote.

Recording to NAS seems to work almost all the time now. So the main problem I had was because the IR-remotes from the other two TV-boxes unfortunately was controlling Z11!
One situation the recordings still not working properly is when schedule recording of two adjacent programs (on the same channel) - then the last program will only be recorded one minute or so. (The setting is no extra recording time).
I also found suspicious recordings files on one 2h+ program. It did work (I could watch the program afterwards) but the sizes of the Record_N.ts files was not the normal 2GB + 2GB ... + the last file smaller than 2GB - instead Record_1.ts was only 1.28GB, Record_2.ts 2GB, Record_3.ts 21MB !!, Record_4.ts 2GB, Record_5.ts 1.3GB. What was going on there??

Good you solved that

Since i used the first Sat. receiver (100 years ago
) such recordings was always problematic, on all boxes. I see this only working fine on E2 Linux boxes and two lines and even there not always in perfect way...For iptv Boxes and esp. in Formuler case, i can only recommend to schedule recording instead from 1+1 (example show 1-> 14-15:00 and second on same channel 15-16) to 14-16:00, means both shows in one recording. Gives less headaches.

It is hard to answer why the system used this way of file splitting but there is definitely some reason. Explanation can only show the log file.
I can only guess that some stream interrupt was the reason.

Thx, for the insight in background info for proper scheduled recording

On the Z10 SE / MOL2 you can schedule two shows in a row, also on two different channels.

today I got an issue with a recording not showing up under recordings. But in MacOS f
Finder I can see the recording (on the NAS) and in the Z11 notifications it indicate correctly!
I tried to report the problem to the chatbot but got error 422 when trying to send.

recording to NAS ends after just 1 minute or so, in notifications for the recording: remarks(6) is says. Log sent #1995104.
Got this error several times now. Can not trust recordings to NAS from Z11.

Both rebooted and mounted again, first NAS and then Box with deactivated VPN?
-
try reboot both devices, have no VPN, but still the the same issoues. Now started recording on Samsung T7 SSD (NTFS) instead wich seems working fine. Tried also NAS recording with my other box Z10 SE w MOL2 - seems fine. So I still think the Z11 Pro Max MOL3 has problem record to NAS. The problem might be due to the classic NAS HDD wake up time from sleep, but it's hard to tell because no useful hints in the Notifications??
BTW. one "end of recording notification" was missing when record to SSD.

So I still think the Z11 Pro Max MOL3 has problem record to NAS.
Sorry, but definitively not! It works fine with NAS.
Give your Box static IP, create extra recording folder on NAS for your Z11 (Z10 use different path and hierarchy of files) and set on NAS to allow your Box with static IP full access. Reboot then both again, the mount should work.
Here some older Article with Synology NAS -> How to set Z8 and NAS for recording and timeshift over network.
