  • Hi,

Have a strange issue with a Z8 and was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to fix it. For some reason we never caught this until yesterday when both remotes were in the same area and it's really bothering me now.

We have 2 Formuler Z8 boxes and the original remotes they came with. One box came with the updated remote that has 02f9 also written on the front bottom. Both over a year old and used by adults so no damage etc.

The problem is that the non 02f9 remote can be pointed at a wall, back towards your face or the ceiling etc and it still works perfectly and all commands are reflected on the screen/box.

The updated 02f9 remote, has to be pointed right at the box in order to work.

Tried both remotes side by side and there's a huge difference. Swapped batteries and removed any usb devices connected and also removed any other devices near by that may cause interference and same issue. IR extender not used.

I searched online and in these forums and couldn't find any way to reset the remote or change frequencies (like some remotes) so any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi,

OK you use two different remotes, one older 02f9 remote and one newer IR1, is IR1 right, came also with z8 pro? The newer IR1 is much responsive then the older one and you found it out, but both use the same 02f9 Codes. So you will not be able to change any frequencies.

You can reset your remote when you take the battery`s out for longer time and connect again.

    Hi Sam,

Thank you for your response. The older box of the 2 is the non 02f9 remote and It doesn't have any model numbers on it that I can see. The 02f9 came with the newer box. Out of the 2 remotes, the 02f9 is the most non responsive.

I just checked the IR1 model you mentioned and we don't have those. The older one looks exactly like the 02f9 one. Attached pic of what they look like, other than one having 02f9 on the bottom.

    Thanks

  • A ok. The older one is the first rcu came with z8 and this older rcu use same frequenci like some other rcu's, like rcu's for light soundbar etc. Therfore can sometime happen that the commands interfare with other devices.

Later changed Formuler the codes (02f9) and such things didn't happen anymore, expect you have some device in use that use exactly same freq. and codes.

BT1 is in such things always the solution, control over Bluetooth.

Thanks for the info Sam. Appreciate it. I did make a mistake in my previous post (was correct in 1st post). The 02f9 is the one having the problem (will try to correct post). So least responsive is the 02f9 but I will check as per advice.
