  • Hi,

I have a Z11 Pro Max. Whenever I plug in a new Samsung T9 2TB HDD, I get the following error: "External storage not recognized. Incompatible format detected. Do you want to change the format?"

The drive is formatted as ExFAT, so I'm not sure why it's complaining. Any suggestions? I use this drive fine with other Android devices and my Macbook.

  • Hi,you should format your recording device to NFTS,using Rufus tool.

In order to check whether the device is recognized you should check in DVR options and restart the box once.

  • I don't have easy access to a Windows machine, are there other options? The Formuler box itself asks me if I want it to format the drive.

Also if I format it as NTFS, will it still mount for Macs and other non-Windows devices? Just read stories of HDDs only recognized by Formuler boxes and not other devices.

    Thanks

Check if there is a firmware update availeble for the T9.

look on the samsung website. Dont know if there is a samsung firmware updater for mac OS, so you can update the firmware of tour T9 ssd drive.

    Samsung magican for mac:

    https://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=UNI_NL&OriginYN=N&ModelType=N&ModelName=MU-PG2T0B&CttFileID=9542303&CDCttType=SW&VPath=SW%2F202404%2F20240425155948927%2FSamsung_Magician_Installer_Official_8.1.0.800.pkg

  • I tried installing Samsung Magician and updating it, but the software could not read the HDD when plugged in. So I plugged the HDD into the formuler box and let the formuler box format it. Unfortunately, now the laptop can't read the drive and Samsung Magician can't see it either.

Samsung magican can read normal fat32 and ntfs filesytems.

If you get it out of the box and hang it on your pc samsung magican should recognize the ssd.

Very very strange it doesn't recognize it now.

Maby change the drive letter in windows.and have a look with configuration screen. Or someone with brains who knows how too.

    I cant explain on forum.

  • You can reformat the drive on MAC through Disk Utility.

Use Finder and search Disk Utility

Select the drive and then erase. It should put it back to factory setup and thus allow you to use it again.

In my experience, MAC has been much better at recovering drives than other third party software or windows machine.
