Z12 Ultra – MyTVOnline shows 50fps, but real output is only 25fps (no deinterlacing?)

    Hi everyone,

    I recently bought the Formuler Z12 Ultra and ran into a pretty serious issue.

    In MyTVOnline, the regular info bar shows 50fps when switching channels. That would be great – but when pressing the Info button twice, the extended info overlay in the bottom-left corner shows the actual framerate, and it’s consistently only 25fps.

    The picture confirms it: motion is clearly choppy, with visible combing effects. It looks like MyTVOnline simply does not perform deinterlacing, even though the stream is flagged as 50fps.

    I’ve tested multiple portals, different settings, different channels – same result every time.

    So my question to the community and the Formuler team:

    Is this a known bug? A missing feature? Or is MyTVOnline on the Z12 Ultra really not doing any deinterlacing at all?

    Right now, live TV is basically unusable for anything that should display 50fps smoothly.

    Any feedback or clarification would be appreciated.


    This issue urgently needs attention, because the box cannot deliver proper live TV in its current state.

    Thanks for posting this — your findings perfectly match what I’ve been experiencing as well.

    In my tests with the Z12 Ultra, I noticed that MyTVOnline3 and other Android players often output 25 fps instead of 50 fps, or fail to properly synchronize playback for 23.976 / 24 / 25 fps content. The result is exactly as you describe: choppy motion and visible judder, while the same recordings play perfectly smooth using the Media Browser app on the Z12 Ultra.

    This clearly shows that the hardware decoder and HDMI output are fine, but MyTVOnline3’s internal video pipeline (probably based on ExoPlayer) isn’t correctly handling frame rate or deinterlacing.

    I’ve also observed cases where a 50 fps sports channel suddenly drops to 25 fps mid-broadcast — the HDMI output still shows 50 Hz, so the conversion seems to happen internally. Switching channels back and forth temporarily fixes it.

    Hopefully the Formuler team can take a look at this in a future firmware update, since both issues (improper deinterlacing and incorrect frame-rate handling) seem to be part of the same underlying problem.

    Thanks for documenting this so clearly — the more reports we share, the easier it will be for the developers to reproduce and fix it.

    serious issue? No my friend. If it's 25fps it's good quality and when it’s 1920x1080. (Normally)

    Anyway,

    In mytvonline 3 menu, go to settings, player options and turn on AFR.

    If i press 2 times on info on a lower hd channel, i see also 1280x720 25.0fps.

    But in the channel name stand at the end hd and 50fps.

    So should be good.

    Thanks for your reply! I understand your point, but in this case it really is a technical issue not an exaggeration 🙂

    European HD channels are usually broadcast in 1080i50, which means 50 interlaced fields per second. If MyTVOnline3 only displays 25 fps, that means the player is skipping proper deinterlacing, so motion becomes half as smooth (and sometimes shows combing artifacts).

    In other words, the stream should look like 50 fps once deinterlaced not 25 fps.

    Turning AFR on or off doesn’t change this behavior, and other apps (or even the Media Browser on the same box) can display it perfectly smooth, which confirms the issue lies in MyTVOnline3’s video pipeline.

    Hopefully Formuler can fix this in a future update, because live TV should definitely display true 50 fps motion for 1080i channels.

    There are also streams that are true progressive 25 fps, meaning the picture is originally smooth and not interlaced — exactly as you would see it on an official set-top box.
    In this case, playback on MyTVOnline should be perfectly smooth as well, without any stutter, but unfortunately that’s not what happens on the Z12 Ultra. This shows that the issue isn’t only related to deinterlacing, but rather to incorrect frame-rate handling within MyTVOnline3.

    You say it very well. My english is not so good as yours, but i know there is also a function in android settings somewhere.

    At image section or so and that android change play video as same framerate. Will have a look for precisely steps. Maby it helps.

    Edit: cogwheel upper right corner, device preference, display and sound, match content framerate, switch to on.

    I have 4 different subscriptions and there are a lot of 50fps standard streams in my country Holland. 1920x1080 hd 50 fps. Also without afr on😀

    Believe me, I’ve tried every possible setting, but it doesn’t solve the issue at all.

    I invite you to carefully reread my previous replies here, as well as the topic I opened the day before yesterday, in order to fully understand the nature of the problem.

    As for the channels you have, they are originally 1080i25, not 1080p50. That’s why I emphasized that there are channels broadcast in native 25 fps, on which there should be absolutely no stuttering during playback.

    Moreover, this problem doesn’t only affect the channels — it occurs across all applications, as well as movies and TV shows, whether they’re included in the subscription or played from an external hard drive.

    Sure, please move one step higher and forward it to the devs.

    Click on Top (header Menu) on Formuler Helpdesk -> then right down corner on "Ask Questions to Formuler AI" and let the AI create Support Ticket at end. Insert all your detailed data into the ticket. Some small phone video that shows exactly the issue (uploaded on streamable.com) helps always and directly. Thank you.
