Hello,
Yes, they are good. Use Ntfs.
cool what about something like the SanDisk Extreme V2 500GB USB-C Portable External SSD
Sure, each ssd, even the cheapest is for such box fast and good enough.

As previously mentioned that NTFS formatted by Rufus was the way to go. I was unable to get my Sandisk Portable SSD to work with Time shift when I formatted with NTFS. I then tried formatting SSD with Fat32 and it works on my Z12 for storage for Backups and Time shift. Just wanted to mention that in case others can't get their storage to work with Time shift

Yes, Windows PC (laptop) using Rufus Formating software using the parameters set out by Formuler (except Fat32 instead of NTFS). I only use this SSD for Timeshift and Backups. On the Z12 I have Recordings set to store on the internal storage. All works well now.
Thanks for your assistance, waiting for my t7 to arrive will be back once here.
Fat32 goes to max filesize 4 gigabyte.
Use ntfs with rufus. Is advice.

Lucky, NTFS is recommended by Formuler. My SSD would not work for Timeshift when NTFS was used to format it. I advised I used FAT32 and it worked for Timeshift. If you read my post I said I only use the SSD for Timeshift and backup. Internal storage is used for Recording that may require a larger file size. I would suggest anyone try NTFS 1st and if it works for Timeshift, great. If it does not I just advised what I did (FAT32) and what worked for me.

Select above your usb.
Select "Non bootable" in Rufus, or right-click the drive in File Explorer, choose Format, select your desired file system (e.g., NTFS or fat32, and click Start
Goodluck my friend
Thank you guys for your assistance tested 5 mins of instant recording and time shift also works. Will look to do full programmers also.
I had this on ntfs on Samsung t7 portable ssd.
Before formatting turned off password by logging into the software before you get this option you must update the software the ssd comes with. This will allow to remove pasword before the format step!!
