Hi I’m still having the same problem as I did back in November when I go to record a program there is sound but no picture

Hello Barbara,
how did you formatted your recording device, with the box, pc or with the recommended tool from us calling Rufus?
I thought I couldn’t format with the formuler box? Trying with laptop
Ok following.
Stay with Rufus and laptop.
1. Connect your hdd drive first with laptop and working Rufus tool on it.
2. Start Rufus tool.
Rufus will show this:
Please change everything like on picture, steps 1-8 and let Rufus format the hdd drive.
3. After successful format, disconnect the hdd drive from laptop.
4. Connect the hdd drive with your GTV Box and restart the box once (not always necessary, but only to be sure everything is initialised correctly).
5. After box restart, you will see in right upper corner this:
When you click on it, the connected device will be shown, in my case Kingston USB stick.
Nice, this shows us only, everything was recognised correctly. Go back without clicking on it and from this point just ignore the message about this device.
6. Start MOL2
7. Go to MOL2 Menu -> Settings -> DVR Options -> and check if your hdd is set like this.
If yes, you can now go back to live tv and start with recording. Do few recordings and test if they work normal.
Ok I’ll give it a go but in the top drop down when I press it nothing happened at all there was nothing there

I do it a much simpler way which seems to work for me and never had an issue. Maybe it depends on the type of USB but I always use Sandisk and Kingston.
I do this:
Windows 10 - Quick Format USB to NTFS format
Then plug the USB into Formuler Box and Format again
I don’t move apps across I ignore that request because it’s not necessary to move them and can cause conflict if you do.
I then go into DVR OPTIONS within MTOL2 and set the named USB as recording device.
Simple, easy and NEVER had an issue. It always works.

Hi when I have plugged hdd drive into formuler 7+ box it hasn’t given me an option to format and there is no dvr option on my MOL? getting really confused now

I’m just getting really frustrated now as to why it won’t record properly as we are missing a lot of programs because of this
I formatted my wd 1tb. With my GTV no problem here m8

Since the thread was opened in wrong section, now moved to proper Z7+ forum.
There are big difference between GTV+MOL2 compared to Z7+ and MOL1, therefore all this confusion. We would save time when this was posted in proper forum at beginning.
Ok go the simple way. If possible use this time some usb stick, just to be sure the hdd is not the issue.

Did you win?
I haven't got 7+ to check.
But if your are in Mol/ Menu /DVR Options and check if your drive is selected as Recording storage location.
If these choices aren't there we need someone with7+.
If you only have 1 connection on sub, you know you can only record and watch 1 channel ?

One Question: What are you trying to record? Catchup or Live TV? Live TV should work instantly, catchup you can not record.
This is what it says in the android setting for storage but should o be able to click on the portable storage ? It won’t let me
What for? Here you can only with the right icon (arrow) disconnect your hdd from the box, nothing more.
Trying to record live tv as my provider has disabled catchup at the moment

Yes I was recording the channel I was on and I haven’t a dvr option in this box
If you followed this:

the recording should work. Dvr option is on MOL2 boxes, on Z7+ with MOL1 after connecting the formatted usb stick or hdd, the Android OS system create needed folders (reboot your box) and box saves data automatically there.
If you done everything suggested and the problem still exist, maybe it would better to do factory reset and set the box completely new. Ask your seller if he can assist you in this case.

Recorded part of a program but just the black screen as in photo which has sound but no picture
Like i wrote, try with someone (seller could help) to do factory reset, set up the box fresh and try again. Note, to save your subscription data before you do factory reset.

Hi I’m back again I tried to record on the smarters app that is in the formuler market place and it did record pictures as well as sound 👍 so it must be something with the MOL app
Only problem with the smarters app you can’t schedule a recording
How can I add other apps onto the box please ?
