Samsung smart BT remote for the GTV

Hi,

got a GTV yesterday, upgraded from some old Z7 model. Nice upgrade all though with some issues here ans there!

The new BT remote is fine, but for casual use I would like to be able to use my Samsung remote as on could for the Z7(I think for all previous Formuler models), changing channels, power everything down/up in one go etc(actually powering down works..). Is there anything that can be done that I have missed? Or do we just have to wait for this to be fixed somehow in upcoming upgrades?

Hi SAM,

well the question was not really about the BT1 remote rather why the GTV box dont respond(changing channels etc) when I am using my regular Samsung smart tv remote like previous Formuler boxes did?

Hi,

because GTV use different (newer) rcu commands. Also changed a while on other rcu`s (name O2F9) to bypass the interruption with other devices.

Second, did you try with your tv to set again the use with GTV, hdmi cec settings also set correct?

Set HDMI CEC on GTV

on Samsung Smart TV go to sources and select Universal Remote

Set your Samsung remote to control GTV from there.

Hi,

ok, CEC etc is fine. I set universal remote to Formuler that can be found in TV list of providers but it does not work with the GTV box, it works with my previous Formuler box if I switch to that one.

So I guess either something needs to be changed in GTV box SW or Samsung need to add new support for GTV box(NEVER going to happen).

I even tried to pair the Samsung BT remote to the GTV box, it pairs but cannot operate the box...

Well if anyone finds a workaround please share it The small Samsung remote is really nice to have when lying in darkness with its few and cleaver operating buttons..

Have you enable Anytime+ CEC in Samsung tv settings too? Should be under general settings

Hi,

yes Anynet+ is activated(also have a Samsung soundbar that is controlled by same remote).

Strange that you can operate the GTV but not me. I have a Samsung NU8000 model TV, but I guess the universal remote provider list should be the same on all Samsung TVs. Maybe one could try with some other provider in TV list and get it to work that way.

So GTV is identical to other Formuler boxes and should acknowledge the commands from the Samsung TV if provider Formuler is selected?

I guess you could also try going in to settings

Select your GTV or whatever you’ve named it on your TV and edit.... then setup as new device and it should ask you to press the controls on your tv remote up down left right etc and if that works your tv remote should control it too.

Anyways, if it work for you I will keep on trying, maybe resetting TV, leave it unplugged, switching HDMI port etc will get the one remote working who knows.

You can reset your hdmi port by unplugging it from the tv. Power off the tv and Formuler for 10 mins, plug hdmi back in and then power on. HDMI will be reset.

An unpublished way of turning off the HDMI auto detect feature can be done aswell. I personally disabled auto detect as it’s not great on the Samsung.

On normal TV like freeview select that option even if not set up.

Press the following combination on your remote. Once complete you won’t get an acknowledgment but the feature will be off and remain off until tv reset.

Mute > Volume Down > Channel Down > Mute

ok will keep trying.

just switched hdmi port, the TV did was not able to recognize the GTV box, i left it unrecognized then the one remote could be used, everything worked except the channel up/down

then tried to add the GTV via universal remote as Formuler box, everything stopped to work, strange.

Anyways thanks a lot for the tips. Will keep on and make update if I get all to work. Need to take a soccer break now

Sorry, in the UK, the free to air tv is called freeview.

So if you have free to air tv where you are you can be on that to disable hdmi auto detect.

That is separate anyway from the remote control issue so ignore that if not required.

As for the tv remote issue, I can’t really add anymore than I already have because they’re the only methods i can see to get it working so if it’s not then I’m not sure what the answer is unfortunately.

ahh ok,

anyways you can confirm that you use Samsungs One remote, set via universal remote to formuler and the channel up/down button work for zapping? If so the issue should be at my end.

well, clearly the GTV does not work with the Formuler settings in the Samsung RCU/Provider database.

- If I use the GTV box as unrecognized by Samsung TV almost all buttons work via CEC except most important one, channel button for zapping.

- If I identify the GTV box s a Formuler box from the Samsung RCU/Provider database nothing works.

SAM can one request somewhere for a fix that the GTV box behaves as other Formuler(I think it really should as its a Formuler box ) boxes when being controlled by Samsungs Formuler RCU/Provider template in their database?

Write Email to Samsung support to import GTV RCU key`s into their database, this is Samsung RCU part not Formulers.

well guess it can be seen that way. But I really think a new Formuler box should interpret signals as all other Formuler boxes in order to avoid issues like this..

Samsung is not known for fast support From where can one get the GTV RCU keys?

even though I guess they will ignore me it would be nice to be able to provide the rcu keys to them. Can they be found in the box somewhere for me to extract or in some other place online?
