Hi, Brought my Z8 on holiday, plugged it an and connected to the rental’s wifi and all was working fine. Then I needed to move the box to another room and now, although it still connects to the wifi with excellent strength, it clearly does not have internet access as mytvonline2 does not connect to my provider. Using the same wifi, I can connect my iphone to my provider fine. I also tried with an ethernet connection from the Z8 to the router, but no joy. When I look at the main menu, I see an “!” on Network. Thanks for your help.

I see an “!” on Network.
Means, the box do not have full inet connection (even if you connected to your wifi ssid). Check router settings and log from router why this specific ip from box do not get inet. Alternative give your box static ip an reboot after that router and box.

Hi Sam, thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately I am currently in a rented holiday home, so I cannot login to the router to check what you suggest. I did mod the z8 settings to a fixed IP, but that has made no difference. What is odd is that when I arrived a couple of days ago, I simply plugged in the z8 and gave the local wifi pw and everything worked fine. I’d also expect the z8 to have internet access when connected directly to the router via ethernet, but that doesn’t work either. Any other ideas?

Please ask admin from rented holiday home, why your device not get inet connection (In this case static ip makes no sense, was thinking you are at home).
Maybe they have some activated filter or the box need to login first on some homepage from them to get free internet.

I have arranged to give the owner a call later, so hopefully he might understand. What is curious is that when I arrived, I just plugged the Z8 in, logged into the wifi and it was all systems go! Is it possible that there might be an app running on the router, which suddenly decides to deny access to a connected mac id?

"Forget" the wifi network on the Z8 and try to connect the the network again.
Open the Youtube app on your Z8 to see if the device is actually connected to the internet. Maybe your IPTV service in MOL2 was banned or blocked.
Uninstall any VPN or DNS apps on your Z8 and try again.

Check if youtube works, if not then is inet not working, if yes then ask provider if geo-block exist. I don`t know where your home and where your holiday apartment is.

Hi Sam and 175n, my home is in Switzerland and am currently in USA. I got the home owner to call his ISP, and they claim there is no block on my mac address. I have uninstalled my VPN app. I forgot the local wifi and reconnected. On the main menu, I see the local wifi with the normal icon above it, but if I try to start youtube, it simply says “cant connect right now”. There is no problem with my IPTV provider, as I can connect fine from my ipad……but I really need the Z8 to work since I want to record soccer games that are played while I’m asleep!………….but now I just tried to start mytvonline2 again………and it is working, although curiously youtube still doesn’t!! So was this all to do with my VPN?
For now, I don’t care…..the main thing is, I have the soccer back!
Many thanks guys…..

A follow up to this, which has confused me even more....... I am back home, and expected the Z8 to work again as soon as I connected it to my system. Instead although it connects to my wifi, it does not get access to the internet. I do have an ethernet connection nearby and if I connect that and switch off wifi, the Z8 gets internet access OK. I have looked back in other threads and this problem does seem to have happened to others, although I have not been able to find a definitive reason and solution.

Try to Factory Reset your device.
Factory Reset will wipe all user data and bring the device back to factory state.
Make sure to write down any important information like portal URLs, usernames and passwords before doing the reset procedure.

Hi All, Just to follow up on this as I'm having the same issue. I've had my Formuler Z8 box for some time now, and it's caused no issues, up until a few weeks back. For some reason, this is the only device in my house which will not connect to the Wi-Fi. I've tried a hard re-set, I've tried a factory re-set and I've tried turning the router off and on again, for about a week now and no progress.
I've tried forgetting the network and re-entering my password, and the Wi-Fi will connect, at 'excellent' speed, but when I load up Youtube, or try and load up the software update, it simply won't connect and shows the ! sign. I don't use an ethernet cable, and I've tried hotspotting my Wi-Fi from my phone, and the connection works. Common Denominator is the Wi-Fi simply not connecting to my Formuler Z8 box, and it's really frustrating.
The box is currently in factory re-set mode, so I can't think it's any of the apps causing it. Can someone assist please? I really don't want to have to sell this box as I like using it, but I simply cannot get it to work.

try:
1. ensure secure dns is on auto
2. enable dhcp

I think a lot of people don't realize Routers and Internet are very much like a computer itself. Meaning, how many times does your computer become bogged down or confused and it needs a refresh. Depending on the router, there is a lot of garbage out there, whereas your speeds can be affected or you may have trouble logging into a wifi router or AP when other devices are already logged in and running. Therefore, I chose to place a digital timer on my Main Router and Modem and every morning at 4:00AM while the house is sleeping, the devices power down for 5 minutes and power back up. This refreshes the system and keeps everything running efficiently. Just my two cents!

Hi, thanks for replying. My DNS options are 'Off, Google, Cloudflare, Quad9 or Manual Input' It's also been left as 'off'. And DHCP is left on

Do you have 1 SSID being broadcast from your router?
Turn off band-steering on your wifi AP. Separate the 2.4G and 5G bands. Connect your Z8 to the 5G AP of your router.

Hi, I've split to 2G and 5G and ensured that my Formuler box is on the 5G band. Still doesn't work, and it's the only thing connected to it. Just has a Wi-Fi ! signal and 867Mbps there. Connects, but when I try to open YouTube, nothing.
Literally every other device I have works fine, so I have no idea what the problem is. It's on factory default settings as well.

try using ethernet cable with wifi turned off
dhcp=on
secure dns=auto
vpn=off
ipv6=off

Please tell us what has changed in your home a few weeks back. Did you move? Did you change ISP? Did you change any of your networking hardware?

What is the brand/model of your wireless router? Is it supplied by your ISP?
A recent software update could have been force-installed on your router a few weeks ago by the ISP causing the issues you are having now.
If you are using an ISP-supplied wifi router please log into the router and turn off all of the useless "big brother" "security" features such as parental-controls, redundant firewall features, pointless anti-virus features, and other bloatware features enabled on the router that could be the source of the issue. The ISP might be blocking your Formuler from joining the network using these features under the guise of "protecting" your network from what they deem "harmful".

with some isp you have to call in and get the firewall/nat disabled from the isp end.
with for example the att unite explore ip passthrough has to be enable

What security are you running on your radios? Have you tried disabling wifi security and re-connect? I wouldn't be surprised if it connects without security running. If it does and works properly, try changing your security setting to WPA2 which is most commonly used. Please report back!
