  • What is the preferred method of rebooting a GTV? I only want to do a factory reset as a last resort, but . . . I have to repower my GTV at least once a week when the bluetooth remote and box stop working together. I've been pulling the power cord and plugging it back in, and that works, but it seems like a harsh way to repower/reset it. I've read that a paper clip can be inserted in the IR jack to do a factory reset. Do I have that right or can the IR jack method work as a reboot only?

On a related note, I use "restart" almost every day when live TV stutters, freezes, etc., and that seems to work, but since the latest firmware update (MOL2 10.0.37) I find myself doing "restarts" constantly.

    Any advice?

  • In most cases Standby, but use Power Off option in Power settings to let the box restart each time.

IR jack cannot be used to reboot the device. It is only used when performing a factory reset.

It would be interesting to find and solve the root cause of your issue with the bluetooth remote not responding on a weekly basis.

Did you try to change the batteries in the remote?

What is the battery percentage reported in the Formuler Remote app?

  • Thanks for the reply.

The remote app says 100% battery. Pulling the power returns everything to normal. Remote and GTV respond immediately after repowering and work flawlessly for a up to a week. The remote always shows a white light when a button is pushed, which I assume means the remote signal is reaching the box, even when there is no response.

It's been this way practically from day 1 (June 2022). I have other issues too, but I don't know if they are related to software or GTV, but this remote-GTV unresponsiveness is at the top of my list.

    Thank you!

In order to narrow down the source of the issue (remote or box) please do the following:

Unpair your Formuler bluetooth remote from your GTV using the "Remotes and Accessories" menu in Android Settings.

Use your Formuler remote in IR mode for a couple weeks and report back with your results.

  • If the light on the remote is blinking WHITE it is paired correctly with your GTV using Bluetooth.

If the light on the remote is blinking AMBER it is unpaired from your GTV and operating in IR (line-of-sight) mode.

If the light on the remote is blinking RED it is operating in TV-control IR mode.

The IR extension cable creates more issues than it solves. Recommend removing the IR extension cable from your GTV to see if the problem goes away.

  • Reviving this thread with a related question. How often do people perform factory resets on a GTV (or any Android box)? I've done maybe 5 in 3+ years as a last resort to fix dysfunctions.

Lately, I have 2 problems in the last month that are very frustrating.

    1) DVR time shifting not working as it should: (With a fresh 64gb flash drive properly formatted) When I try to jump back or forward :30 seconds, it could take me anywhere in the 2-hour saved recording. When I hold down the forward or back buttons, the progress bar does not move, and I have no idea where it will take me. Most timed recordings are successful.

    2) GTV disconnects from the internet every few hours: All my other devices maintain a consistent, stable, strong, fast internet connection. The GTV is literally 2 feet from the router/modem.

Will a factory reset fix these 2 issues? Should I be doing more frequent factory resets? I hate doing them.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for the suggestions. I failed to mention that I have not changed any settings, my flash drive is formatted correctly and it has been in the same USB port as before, and time shift was working most of the time. And the GTV only started disconnecting from the internet about a month ago.

What do you mean by UTP cable? Are you saying I should connect to my router via ethernet cable instead of using WIFI?

I can't seem to change the IP address to static. Every time I try, it reverts back to DHCP. IPv6 was enabled so I've disabled it today.

Utp cable is ethernet cable yes.

It should be possible to hold ok button onnyour wifi name and edit it i thought. Then you make it static. If you don't know how to.

    I advice strongly ethernet cable.

  • To change to static IP, I went into GTV settings, chose network and internet, then chose IP settings and static, and this message appears, "Enter a valid IP address or leave empty." Then I enter my internet router IP address, 10.0.0.1, and hit enter. Then the IP address changes to 192.168.1.1. When I hit enter again, it asks me for "Network prefix length: example: 24."

    I am confused.

My Comcast Xfinity router (2 feet away from the GTV) has only 1 ethernet port, which is currently in use.

If you know sure your router ip is: 10.0.0.1

    First it needs an ip.

Sow make a ip like: 10.0.0.122 (example)

Then Gateway (router) should be: 10.0.0.1

    Prefix length 24

    Dns: 9.9.9.9

    (Dns2) 8.8.8.8
