  • I should have had 2 scheduled recordings completed when I woke up this morning. When I turned on the tv, it showed the z11 Home Screen and the ‘run alarm’ box came up. I pressed ‘run alarm’ and the small notification came up saying recording started. A second ‘run alarm’ box came up and I did the same. Then I had notifications of recording ended. Both recordings had started earlier in the day, but it’s like it didn’t attempt it until I turned the tv on. The power setting is set to standby. When I record with the tv on, all is fine, both with an immediate and scheduled recording.

    Any ideas?

  • Same experience here.

Did you get a message when you go to recordings "video not available;try again later",I too had notifications of recording start and recording ended, but recordings were empty.

Yes. Tried again just now. Come back to the same. The alarm as soon as I turned on the tv. It was in recordings but hadn’t recorded a second and doesn’t play. Clearly the issue is it not starting when in sleep. It doesn’t shut down as when I turn the tv on it is straight to the screensaver. I think I’ll see about turning the screensaver off.

  • Why try power off if standby usually results in adequate scheduled recording?

  • Try to use power off method instead of standby when you set schedule recording.

Purely out of interest as obviously you know what you’re talking about, but how would that help? I assumed power off would mean it wouldn’t be able to record?

I think I’ve solved it hopefully anyway. Think it was something to do with CEC. I’m out now so will test properly when I’m back, if not I’ll try this.

Why not? Scheduled recording use smart recording, turn the box on, record and go power off after its done. I speak also only at night, for daytime you can use of course standby.

See the text i wrote to Henkie.

Sure, if you found something with CEC let us know.

  • I had over the last weeks subsequent failed programmed scheduled recordings, each time-3 in total- the reccording started from start recording notification, but stopped at 30-50% of the total recording time, wheras in notification end recording the correct time was given.

I record from standby position of the box and use a correctly formatted-RUFUS- USB stick.

Does anyone have an explanation for these haphazard failed recordings,i always leave the USB stick inserted, should i take it out or use tv file commander ?

  • I already used different USB sticks, nevertheless on 3 occassions, the recording failed, wheras in notfications the recordings were noted as succesful!

  • I am having all the same issues but I think its all to do with settings or the software itself. I an saving to a 500gb hard drive and recording without problem if I hit the record button on the remote whilst watching something. The problem arises only when I try to schedule a recording. I have tried leaving the box on standy, and being left fully on, on the same channel that I wish to watch, or allowing the box to switch to the correct channel at the time of scheduled recording. It has worked occasionally but lately it seems not to. I unfortunately have no idea why but I am pretty sure it is not a problem appertaining to the type of storage used. Can someone help?

  • Did you, try out scheduled recording to a formatted USB stick, and compare this to your hdd?

  • No. The reason is that the HDD had always worked well when formatted by my previous Z8 formuler box. and since reformatting with my Z11, it works fine as a recording storage when I use live recording. I have today also scheduled a recording by simply selecting it from the epg, using the record button on the remote. This worked fine. When the problem is happening, what I am getting is, the recording is shown in the log as recorded but also in the ended log says 0s. If I go into recordings from the main menu, each recording shows the information about the programme recorded, but no image. When I try to run the recording, it just says, error try later, but never works. So it appears to me that the epg isn't communicating correctly with the recording software properly, if left for several hours before it should activate? Any thoughts?

  • What if you look at single EPG.....so the EPG of one channel.

I often had there multiple start times (like 2 or 3 min difference) of the same program.

This lead to problems with scheduled recordings.

Therefore in most cases, you have to adjust the start and end time, manually.

With epg youdo not record a specific program, but you actually recording. a set time slot,as far i experienced it for myself, with multiple recordings of a policeshow (Flikken Maastricht),on NL :NPO1 EXTRA,i almost always miss the plot if i do not manually extend the end time of the show, with several minutes

  • Thanks Henkie but I have tried that and it isn't really the issue. I think RZstriper may be closer to the issue. I've seem to have had this problem more when I have set more than one recording for different times which are well apart but in the same evening or early morning. I don't know why it should be though. Any other ideas would be gratefully received
