Where is the IR receiver (eye)?

    This may seem like a weird question, but when you are running 2 Formuler boxes and one is blue tooth (BT) and the other is infrared (IR) only.

    The Z11 Pro Max responds to both the IR remote and the BT remote as does the other box, a GTV. One remote has BT the other is IR only. I need to block the IR "eye" in the Z11 Pro Max so it doesn't respond to the IR signals from the non-BT remote.

    So, where is the IR "eye" on the Z11? Probably in the front facia of the box but I can't see it. I want to put some tape or similar stuff over the eye.

    Good idea! You're suggesting that with the extension plugged in, the "standard" IR receiver will be disconnected. I hope.

    I do know one truth so far; the IR receiver is not in the front. I covered the front with a metal box and the IR remote still triggered the box.

    However, covering the whole Z11 with the box did defeat the IR. :thumbs_up:

    Well, that didn't work! With the IR extender plugged in and covered, the box still responded to IR signals.

    I hope that someone from Formuler will clear this up for me.

    First make sure your BT1 remote is actually paired via Bluetooth with the Formuler device of your choosing.

    You will know the BT1 is paired when the light on the BT1 flashes white when you press buttons.

    When BT1 is paired correctly and operating in BT-mode, there are no IR emissions from the BT1 remote unless you are using the TV IR mode/buttons.

    Therefore when BT1 is operating in BT-mode it is impossible for both Formuler boxes to respond to the BT1 remote. Only the Formuler box that is paired with BT1 should respond.

    Yes, but the second box (GTV) is not BT paired and is therefore only able to use IR from it's remote --- but the Z11 Pro Max responds as well because it's IR is still active!

    How do I fix that?

    The most elegant way to solve the issue is to purchase another BT1.

    Putting black tape over the part where the IR sensor is located on the box is not an ideal solution because the entire plastic housing is made of IR transparent material and IR signals can leak in from any direction.

    Another workaround is to "hide" the box that is connected via Bluetooth. Put the BT box in a cabinet or similar. If you choose this method you must make sure to use the "Standby" power mode and not "Power off".

    Another possible solution is to attenuate the IR signal coming out of the IR remote. Use black electrical tape or some other opaque tape and cover the top of the remote where the IR emitter is located. I recommend 2 layers of tape. Use an exacto knife to cut out a small piece of the tape in the center to expose the IR emitter. This method should reduce the range and spread of the emitted IR signals and you will have to point the remote at the front of the Formuler you want to control. Of course as the distance between you and the boxes increases, it also increases the chance that both boxes will respond to the IR signals.

    I had the same problem. The IR-sensor have a VERY high sensivity. It seems alot of IR-light goes in through the light guide for the on/off light. I used black electrical tape to cover the light guide and the surrounding areas on top, front and side. Moved the TV-box behind the TV. It was sill not enough so I put some small plastic boxes in front (just below the TV-screen) to act as a barrier for the IR-light. I suspect som lights can enter ventilation on top and under the TV-box as well. Make sure not to block any ventilation.
