I recorded successfully on usb with 20 and 50 GB

Any brand name should be fine, make sure it's USB 3.0 for best performance. And I'd recommend 32GB or higher if you're going to be recording a lot. And format it to NTFS for best results.

I had a 32g USB. But now I'm using an old 320g hard drive and it works great never have to worry about space. And yes format it to NTFS.

I use a USB adapter> microsd, and it works well so I can use my microSD cards!

Hello, it seams everyone can record, no problem, I can't!

z8 recognize the USB when I go to Setting/storage

tested the schedule recording, it came up on time, saying it is recording and when it is done, can't find it the recording, EMPTY!

when trying to test recording on the a channel when it is on by pressing the record button, massage appears asking to close live TV!

I'm i doing anything wrong?

The same happend to me, but when I changed the USB from internal storage to removable, it recorded fine.

Hi Katten. What version firmware / mtvol2 are you running? Time shift on or off? What brand and spec is the USB drive you are using? What file system is the USB formatted in? What method did you use to format the USB? 👍

I did apply the latest update for the z8, end of march.

time shift is ON and working on some channels though.

Kensington 64 GB USB 3 stick.

ExFAT, disk utility through my mac.
