    The picture quality on GTV since the latest update is for me… Superb!

    I’ve been very upset and critical of GTV since it’s release last year and the delayed updates were a little frustrating, however.…

    It was a pleasure to be part of the closed beta recently and then with the open beta and delayed final release but goodness me, it was worth the wait.

    At this point in time, the picture quality destroys Z8 and therefore for me, overtaken Z8 and finally GTV can be crowned top box!

    To get the best settings. Although picture quality is now great on all different TVs around the home but I’ll use the main one as an example

    *Samsung Series 7 UE55 4K

    Picture set to dynamic (reset to default first)

    Digital clean view set to auto

    Auto motion plus set to off

    Contrast enhancer set to low

    Colour tone set to standard

    ECO solution - all turned off

    External device manager > input signal plus turned on

    *GTV Picture Settings

    Screen resolution >

    Auto switch best resolution turned off

    Display mode set to 1080p @ 50hz (best option still in my opinion if you’re viewing channels like news that has a ticker tape otherwise it’s too jumpy at higher resolution)

    However picture quality aside from ticker tape is good through the scales up to 4K - my TV even allows to use DCI at 4K and still a good picture

    Colour depth settings turned on (this is only allowed if not using 4K) but seems to improve the clarity anyway at lower resolution I’m using

    Colour space settings use either ending in 444 or 422

    HDR Policy set to Adaptive


    And that’s all it took for me to get my settings as perfect as I want it to be and as perfect as I think it can be in current circumstances.

    The above settings GTV wise are also used on non 4K TVs as much as possible and picture is still better than Z8. Keep in mind non 4K TVs will be limited in the picture options available on your TV so in that instance reset the picture to factory default on your tv and adjust via GTV and see how that appears for you
