Storage Qnap Nas

Hello I Had my GTV setup to record to my Qnap NAS and everything was setup and correct, However the GTV can no longer find the Nas and I can neither Unmount or delete it, the only thing I have changed is that I Have setup the VPN directly on my router rather than the GTV which has helped massively with the speed and quality of the stream. Has anyone else come across this and a solution.

I Have checked a second Nas which is connected to the same router with the same setup and I have managed to mount it and record to it.

Is the network address changed? Normally you give your NAS static ip, same also done on GTV?

Everything is exactly the same the second nas connected fine but was not connected before I added VPN profile at Router level, The First Nas was connected and then I added VPN Profile, the NAS Static IPs are the same as they were before any Router changes. I got a feeling if I re-add it it will probably add fine, but cane delete the old profile

Why are you unable to delete it from the NAS menu?

What happens when you press the delete button on the screen?

Get error message on Unmount 'Fail to disconnect, Check Disconnection perimeters'

On Delete 'Network Storage Unmount Fail'

I'm going to reboot the Both Nas' as I was playing around with them as I discovered both were leaking DNS and IP when running VPN on QVPN, hence needing to run VPN at router level which has stopped the the IP and Dns leak

OK Reboot has now detected the original Nas and second nas and recording to both, but still cant unmount or delete

I have the same problem -- can't unmount or delete.

Perhaps, but the solution is to unCheck the [ ]Reconnect on startup box, reboot the box and then that Mounted Device will be deleted.

Warning: You cannot EDIT any mount info so you must follow the procedure above and then RE-enter your network connection info.

I have successfully added my QNAP NAS to the Z10 Pro Max and my GTV. Works fine!

I did uncheck the Reconnect On Startup and then attempt to unmount but I never Rebooted the device but as its working Im not going to to do that right now.

Whats the Z10 Pro Max like was thinking about picking that up as well ?

Overlook this part. Not perhaps, it is the solution, because you can not delete some mount if this is connected.

Yes, but when unchecked and then rebooted, the network device is no longer mounted.

Unfortunately, I did not recheck the GTV which will NOT mount my QNAP NAS. It keeps requesting "input network storage name" which was filled in but it will not mount the drive. Even repeated name entry or changed name will not help. Odd?

To confirm, I cannot MOUNT a new NAS share at all on the GTV (works fine on the Z10).

I either get the error "input network storage name" or I get the standard error message that it cannot mount the share - recheck parameters.

Why dont you guys add your storage on router level, that way you will be able to access it from all your devices without any problems, or have you done it that way? Not clear if so.

The typical NAS installation is "behind" the network router and, by definition, is accessed from all network devices.

Please compare NAS article with your settings -> How to set Z8 and NAS for recording and timeshift over network.

Tested few min. ago with GTV, unmounted, deleted, box restarted, added again, it works.

Compared. I am setup as required. Fixed IP on both the NAS and the GTV. But, the GTV still won't Mount.

I have Mounted a share on my Z10 Pro Max and I am recording successfully. So I think we can assume that the NAS and network are correct.

Can you suggest what in my GTV would prevent me from mounting that share? What to check next?

I did submit the logs from the GTV & screen shots (posted elsewhere).

I shut down the QNAP TS-453D NAS and did a power off reset on the GTV.

Then I tried mounting a share on the GTV without the NAS ONLINE; same error message.

Then I started the NAS and tried again; same error.

In fact the error appears no matter what I enter or don't enter. Leaving every field empty results in the same error message!

Thoughts?

After removing all Nas Drives from GTV if I go back into MOL2 Settings DVR Options In both Recording Storage Location and Timeshift Location the Nas Credentials are still saved and no way of removing from DVR Options, Also after reset still wont connect to NAS

Still won't work for me on GTV. Works fine on my Z10 Pro Max. Odd?

Temporarily configure your NAS to use SMB v2 until support for 2.1 and 3.0 is added to GTV.

I was in software development/support for more than 50 years (now retired) so why should I be surprised when I decided tonight to try once again for the 5th time to connect my QNAP NAS as a storage device to my GTV -- and it friggin' worked! Other than restoring my QNAP NAS back to SMB 3.0 network support, no other changes have been made to my environment.

I'm all smiles. What happened? did Formuler sneak in an update for the GTV that I didn't see?

You must know better than anyone else how these things can be sometimes.

Hopefully it will work more consistently for you after the upcoming update.
