  • Hi there,

I'm new to IPtv and hoping someone can help with my recording problem.

I'm trying to figure out why my recordings show they all completed normally but when I select them to play, they take a bit of time to load and when they do start playing it's not the full length of time that should have recorded. A one hour recording might only play 30 to 40 minutes.

I've tested a couple of thumb drives, tried formatted as fat32 and ntfs, tried formatting from Windows and rufus and from the Z10 box.

Tried recording on a live show and scheduling a show later in the day.

Tried leaving the Z10 on and on standby.

I've watched the recording start and stop on the scheduled times but when selecting the video to watch, the time recorded is less than what was programmed.

Nothing I've done seems to give me a complete recording.

Is there something I'm missing or should try testing?

  • recording on the z10 did the same for me.

The z11 seems better in that aspect but it too has problems. These formulers are nice and powerful and would be a homerun if they could iron out all these bugs

That's strange how others are able to record properly. I wonder if all Z10s have this problem.
Gotta keep the wife happy and need to find an option that allows her to record, do you know if the Z11 has this problem or is it too a hit or miss?

  • Just did some more testing and loaded VLC Player onto the Z10 to try playing the recordings just to eliminate the player being the issue.

What I found was that the one hour recording was actually broken down into 2 .TS files. The .M3U8 file is only reading the first file.
If I play each .TS file, I get the full hour.

Don't know if this is a known problem or if there is a fix but at least I have a little more to dig into.

  • Please send logs right after the issue reappears following the next instructions: How to send logs

Also please let me know if you see any error messages during the recording, and let me know how frequently the issue occurs.

  • My Z10 with a USB drive and Z10 Pro with a micro ssd have the exact same problems.

I've tested a couple of thumb drives, tried formatted as fat32 and ntfs, tried formatting from Windows and rufus and from the Z10 box.

Same with both of my boxes.

A one hour recording might only play 30 to 40 minutes.

Sometimes only a minute or two.

Tried recording on a live show and scheduling a show later in the day.

Tried leaving the Z10 on and on standby.

Same with both of my boxes.

Also please let me know if you see any error messages during the recording, and let me know how frequently the issue occurs.

Have not notice error messages. Just the one reminder about 10 minutes before the start.

After about 30 or 40 tries I have about 12 good recordings.

Fat32 formatted with PC seems slightly better.

And On seems slightly better than Standby.

Also I have watched the red dot flash at the top of the TV during recordings BUT still no recording.

  • Like Peter wrote, please send Log files instantly if the recordings are faulty or do not start and post here the Tracking No from Log file. Thank you.

  • We have a Formuler Z10 and were recording using MyTV Online 2. Back in July/August and September we seem to have encountered the same problem. Recordings showing timeframes of 1 hour 30 or more minutes will, on playback, enter a loop cycle and then start playing - but will show a time frame of only 30 Minutes. When using a File manager I note that the TS files for the affected recordings appear to have split into more than one file. Is there any way to merge the 2 files into one? Latest recordings seem to be ok - i.e. will playback the full video/movie. I have no idea what could have caused the issues. Did anyone get a solution to the questions posed above?

  • I would advice you not to use any File Manager apps,as they cause more problems than advantages,in my experience.

  • Splitting the files is for TS format normal, the needed data where first stops and other begins is saved in other file in same folder. Player read this file and play exactly saved files in right sequence.

  • Hello, any news regarding this issue ? I have the same problem (Formuler Z10 Max). Any record longer that 40min is splitted into 40min files; all the files are present on the USB stick, but the player only read the first file. If I read the USB stick on a computer, I can see and read the files independently; but the .m3u does not work (using VLC for example). I was using FAT32 formatied USB stick and was thinking that NTFS would help but not... files are still splitted, and only the first one is read by the player. I have this box for more than 1 year and no updates so far have fixed the issue. Thanks for your help.

  • Sorry but no, it is the way how TS protocol splits the files and make them visible.

  • Thanks for your quick answer. I can live with the files splitted within 40min files; my problem is that MyTVOnline 2 is not able to read them.

Let me give you more details: every recording more than 40min is splitted (I understand this is normal) / files are readable individually with VLC if I connect the USB stick to a computer (Note: if I try to open the .m3u with VLC, it is not working, nothing happens) / when I go to my recordings, MyTVOnline shows the record, with the full time (e.g. 4 hours) / when I play it (click on it), the player will play the first 40min; after the first 40min, the player stops and never goes to the next file.

    I'm open to any solution/workaround.

  • Did you installed the latest FW and SW + format the usb stick again with NTFS. My z10 read long recordings no matter how much splitted.

  • Hello vyger, joining the files using TSSplitter works. Thanks for the workaround. Do you know if such a video merging tool would be available directly on the Google Store ? I would like to do this directly on the Z10.

Thanks again for your support in unblocking my frustrating problem...
