Two (more) problems with Z11 Pro Max / MOL3 + BT1 remote

  • I'll be short:

    1) From time to time when starting MOL3 the playback freezes (only shows a still image of the channel) and refuses to work again without a reboot. Changing the channel shows the still video-frame of the new selected channel. No sound. My box is shut down (not in standby) during the periods is not used.

    2) BT1 remote randomly switches from TV control (red light) to box control (yellow light) while using it (but no touch or long press of the top-left button).

    Anyone else encountered these two problems?

    OK, then one more question: is it possible to change TiviMate’s (or any other similar app’s) recording directory to a NAS destination or is it not, like in USB devices’ case?

    Yes I have the exact same problem with the image freezing at times when I turn the box on, I cannot work out any pattern and have tried factory reset but with no resolution to the issue. Did you get this sorted? Anyone else any ideas as it’s a real pain having to reboot the box every time?

    Just to inform you that I ve similar problem since the last update (hot fix) , the image is freezing when I change from a channel to another one or if I start a movie from the VOD, this is totally random and very annoying because it occurred several times by day.

    only the fact to reboot the box the video is playing correctly and TV channel is back ....

    I really think it is a bug from MOL3 , not a problem from my connection or with some settings because each time I have the freezing issue I restart the Formuler and the problem is gone until the next time ...

    I never had such issue before (freezing image ) and I would like to restore my Formuler before the last update, using a backup I did last month.

    Is it possible to restore the system to previous firmware using the backup ?

  • I have the same issue on my Z11 Pro MAX BT1 with the latest fimware (firmware version 11.3.5 and IPTV version 12.1.33).

    When i switch channels the image freezes (shows a still) or shows a black screen. Only way to fix it is to restart the Z11.

    But then as soon as i start changing channels (for example from a FHD channel to a UHD/4K channel) it freezes again. After freezing, when i select another app like Prime Video, F1 TV or Tivimate the image in that app is frozen too!

    This workaround does seem to fix the issue for me:

    -Turned AFR (Auto Frame Rate) off in MOL3

    -Set the Screen Resolution to 720p 60Hz

    -Set Color Space Setting to YCbCr444 8-bit

    -Set HDR Output Mode to Off

    -Set HDCP to 1.4

    -I also turned Surround Sound off instead of auto, but i’m not sure if this step is necessary.

    Then i restarted the Z11 and the image did not freeze (or go black) anymore. Changing channels is also much snappier.

    So the temporary fix works for me, but i really hope the issue gets resolved soon, because 720p isn’t ideal.

  • And what happen when you change now the resolution to 4K 50/60 HZ?

  • When i set the resolution to 720p 60Hz and color space to YCbCr444 8-bit it doesn’t freeze or go black. But as soon as i set the resolution back to 1080 or 4K it freezes again in a couple of channel changes (even with AFR turned off). Really annoying, because then i have to restart the whole thing again. I never had this issue before the last update.


    The strange thing is that since i set it to 720p and set AFR to off… this happens when i switch from a FHD channel to a UHD channel (only in the channel menu):

  • Reinstalled MOL. Had the issue again twice. I now have a new tv and the issue has not occured anymore.


    Edit: Still some HDMI handshake issues i guess. My new 4K / UHD Panasonic switches to 30/25 Hz 4K sometimes when switching channels on the Z11 Pro Max (resolution is set to auto). In the settings the 60/50 Hz 4K option is then gone. If i reconnect the HDMI cable (Audioquest Pearl 2.1 cable) then i can select 50 or 60 Hz 4K output again. I’ve now turned AFR off and manually set the output on the Formuler to 4K 50Hz. Hope that helps, because this issue is getting pretty frustrating.

  • And still the issue remains. Reïnstalled MOL3, did a factory reset…

    After changing some channels, no more 50 or 60Hz. The Z11 automatically selects AUTO (4K 30Hz)


    And when i reconnect the HDMI i can select 4K 50/60Hz again 😔


    Also, when i turn the Formuler off, it goes back to 30Hz. So everytime i turn it on i have to reconnect the HDMI cable to get 50/60 Hz output. Can’t recall ever having all these issues before the last firmware update.

  • It could be that the the HDMI Cable is faulty or HDMI handshake doesn`t work correctly. Please use other 2.0-2.1 HDMI Cable and chose this time different HDMI Port on TV.

  • Please open ticket on Formuler Helpdesk and give detailed description, you can also link to this thread too. I think you need to send log file to Formuler so the devs. can check the log.

    Focus has understandably been on issue #1. I have been experiencing gabi's issue #2 for months with my BT1 remote. I have made sure everything is updated, unlinked it, pulled batteries, reset, relinked, and used remote app to set up volume control with my LG G3 OLED TV. CEC is enabled in both devices. Randomly, the remote will switch from controlling the TV volume back to controlling the Z11 Pro Max volume. I bought a new BT1 remote and both exhibit this phenomenon. Not a real big deal to use remote app to reset volume control, but a bit of a pain. Not sure what else to try short of resetting Z11 to factory settings. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Word by Word i have had the same issue with my bt rcu on my Z11 pro and i tried everything exept i bought a Z11 PRO Max instead of another remote, problem solved😱 or not cause my Z11 pro is collecting Dusty now, maybe i should get it looked at. It's just 5 months old

    Lg tv's from the last 3 years have on hdmi port 3 and 4 hdmi 2.2.

    Hdmi 1 and 2 are 2.1/arc.

    So put your hdmi cable in the hdmi port 4. The bottom hdmi.

    See your tv manual.


    My z11 pro max is on hdmi 4

    My xbox series x is on hmdi port 3.
