  • Hi!

I recently upgraded my fiber from 250/250 to 500/500 and still having the same results while doing speed test. The exact same amount, like 94 mbits.

I have tried wifi aswell and getting some mbits more on one test and less the other time i test so its not stable enough to go with.

Setting the box up with a lan cable straight from the router and not from the port in the Wall that the guys who installed it sat up doesnt make any difference, maybe 10-20 mbits TOPS.

What can I do to fix this?

Bonus question: While testing around I was about to screw the wifi antenna more firmly and it made a noice then went around to get loose again. Did I break it? Wifi still works but were very bad after this. Havent tried it out anymore since so now idea how it works out right now.

  • Check if the networkcard in the z8 is a 100mb card.

If so its normal. Higher then 94 you wouldnt come.

In the gtv and z11 as example, they got a 1gigabit networkcard. Then you should get 950 mbit.

  • I checked it.

100mbit card. So not more than 94mbit is logical.

Via wifi you should get more, but i suggest cable cause its stable. Why higher speeds? You dont need it right?

    Bonus question?

    That needs a bonus answer😉

You can try wifi but if you broke it...

    Then comes ethernet my friend.

    Use that.

  • Oh, Is it so? Everywhere i read that its supporting 1000MBITS. That surely explains why lol. For wifi, how much should I be able to get? I get around 300-350 on my phone.

Nah just thought i needed it cuz i struggled with 4k earlier but since i started to use tivimate it works better than before.

Hehe im not sure I broke it, most likely not since i still can connect through wifi lol.

Thanks for your help my friend!

  • Thats a thing my friend.

Yes they advertice with 1000mbit with wifi max.

Ethernet is 100mbit. But 94mbit is fast enought!

For example... i have 1 gigabit internet.

If i use my phone i get as example 300mbit and the person next to me gets 400mbit with wifi.

Different phone's with different network cards...

  • Ethernet is 100mbit. But 94mbit is fast enought!

Z8 have 1Gig Ethernet and not 100 Mbit! Please check again

    Networking:

    2.4G / 5.0G Dual-band - Dual Antenna

    Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000M

Give your Box static ip over router and Box, this could help to increase the speed + use cloudflare as DNS Server for faster resolve.

If VPN is in use, then it`s clear. VPN reduces the speed extreme.

Bonus question: While testing around I was about to screw the wifi antenna more firmly and it made a noice then went around to get loose again. Did I break it? Wifi still works but were very bad after this. Haven't tried it out anymore since so now idea how it works out right now.

Yes, you did overexcited it and thread is now broken. You will need new from shop if Wifi doesn`t work correctly. In most cases this can be fixed with tape etc.

  • Check one website and saw 100mbit.

    😂😂😂 check better 2 or 3 sites next time🤷🏻‍♂️😂

  • May I be able to fix the broke wifi or do i have to get a new box?

It seems that the problem is the splits from my ISP to my living room because if i take a cable from the router directly to the box i get over 300 mbits, similar to the speed i get on my pc. So, its just the way it is

  • Yes, you all are right. I had exactly the wrong website and looked at wrong place.

On the page above stand 1gigabjt i found yet and under at specs it says 10/100 mbit.🤷🏻‍♂️

Dont waste my time on it anymore😂😂😂

With splits, you mean repeater? Of course they can reduce very much speed if not very strong signal available ( It would be nice if this had been mentioned in the first post), you will never have same speed with repeater compared to router. The direct connect with Ethernet Cable shows you it works.

Try with new repeater positioning, firmware update and software optimising of repeater, could help to get better speed.

  • Today I decided to run some speed tests on my Z8 because I am constantly getting buffering no matter what I try to watch.

I understand the Z8 has gigabit capability.

I am using the fast.com program to do the speed test. For a control test, I connected a 50' cat 6 shielded cable from my network switch directly to my Windows 10 desktop PC and got 530Mbps. I then unplugged the cat 6 cable from the back of my PC and connected it directly to the Z8 and got 120Mbps.

My Z8 has dynamic addressing. Wi-fi & Lan are both on in case I move the box to another TV in the house. FYI I tried turning off the Wi-fi on the Z8 but the test still came back as 120Mbps.

I went through the setting on the Z8 looking for something that is limiting the bandwidth, but could not find anything.

I know some will say 120Mbps is fast enough, but my PC and the Z8 both have gigabit Lan's so why am I not getting the same speeds? I'm starting to dislike the constant buffering.

Any information that you can share will be greatly appreciated.

  • Test with some other speed test app, there are big differences in results when installed on the Box.
