What do you mean manual recording is not available yet? Of course you can record and this with all Z Boxes, you need only usb stick, sd card or hdd for recordings.
Scheduled programming is something else 
At this moment i can not say if this will come or not, maybe 175n can write some comment...
Manual recording of events without EPG data is available in MOL2 on the Formuler Z8.
It is uncertain if this feature will trickle down to MOL1.
If this is a must-have feature for you right now, I recommend you upgrade to the Z8.
