GTV Image trouble

Image on my gtv is spot on but i dont have sdr to hdr so try turning that off.

Same here bad image quality on my GTV lots of pixels!

I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that the GTV really struggles with 1080p@60hz and 4K2K@60,50,30hz

So the only stable frame speed that I see works ok is 1080p@50hz

Very odd because there’s no issues with Z8/PRO

A good method to see the issue, if you watch a news channel with a ticker tape scrolling, you’ll see it skipping.... only 1080p @ 50hz sees it scrolling smoothly after a couple of seconds.

If I set screen resolution to auto it goes to 2160p@60hz so 4k2k but as mentioned it doesn’t work well.

Yes same here image is not smooth. So many problems with GTV. Should have taken z8. Thank you for the tip with 1080p50

At least for now using 1080p@50hz is a setting that seems to work. At least for me so hopefully you and others too.

I’m sure it will be sorted out soon.

Thats not the problem. On this box it seems as if the HDMI drivers don't work properly. On fast movement the image quality gets very bad. Even with 1080p50 it is not a good fluid image. Not the case for other formuler devices like cheap z+ neo on same network image is awesome.

1080p@50 greatly improves the image quality in comparison to any other settings.

I do agree however it doesn’t completely fix the issue so basically the issue is still there and does need resolving

it looks like the image does flutter and blurred a bit blurry gets like cryptic

and i have not this problem on z8 Pro

Hi everyone.

Just wanted to post further regarding initial issues with frame rate. the tips I provided previously to help make it a little better...

I’ve noticed since then that even at 1080p@50hz the frame rate continues to drop and then stabilise, if you change channel the same thing happens. Again it’s clear to see when you watch a news channel or any other and have the ticker tape at the bottom. The GTV struggles to process it.

Additionally, I set my TV at the same image and frame rate and also set the box the same. With AFR on and watching a channel which is 50fps the channel will some times bring a black screen and picture will reappear, that’s intermittent but often enough to annoy me. You can see the FPS icon on the info appear when it does it which suggests the frame rate is dropping.

As mentioned I set each device with the right frame rate and it seems GTV still has trouble.

Now turning off AFR still incurs the same issue but of course you can’t see the FPS info.

So two scenarios, 1 default setup and it still shows an issue with GTV.

I hate to compare with Z8 but, using that setup but with a Z8 instead, no problem, issue cannot be replicated.

So it’s clear to me GTV for whatever reason not able to process information properly and the issue is the same when the frame rate and image quality is increased.

Hello, just got my GTV today and the first thing I noticed was the decrease in Image quality compared to my other box. The image has less color, it stutters even with motionflo turned on, on my Sony 4k tv. My other box which has the Hisilicon chip seems to process the image way better and smoother. In dark areas I get weird pixelation. What I also noticed is that my Wifi speed is about 45% slower than my phone and other box. I really like the box so I don't want to send it back, are these issues fixable with software updates? the GTV is in the exact same location as the other box. Also the MOL2 seems slow compared to the other box. The screen oft turns back a second and so on.

Edit: so I the colors looking better now. I had to set the HDMI settings of my Sony Bravia to HDMI optimized. Now the GTV let me use color depth and gave me more settings RGB/YCbCr420/422/444. the stuttering also reduced with this and the image is way sharper now for me. I also fixed the black screen issue with turning of VFR. No the only thing that kind of annoys me is the dpad on the Remote. Does anyone also have the feeling that pressing up only works well? All the sides feel like something is stuck inside. Am I alone with this issue or is anyone else have this too?

No color problem on my side. They are different but it is a matter of preference and it changes.

On the other hand, there is a real problem of image stuttering on tennis for example.

Do you guys think Formuler will and can fix this ‘smooth’ problem? I do have a GTV since last week and have the problem as well.

Yep, for example I’m watching champions league right now and the ball is not completely smooth moving..

quick fix (temporary) press--> main menu ---> scroll to and click on CONNECTIONS --> Once it exits your connection: click the exit button to start stream again. should fix this

Still many problems with GTV. I changed to Formuler Neo+ which runs very smooth and leave the GTV until the problem is fixed.

what is the best color space to chose

hello how much more time of patience its become long 6 months and always the same problem on the chains full hd still how much time before before the release of this famous update?

I just got GTV (sorry Z8 - you served well) and can confirm the image quality being inferior (not as sharp) to Z8. I have disabled SDR to HDR as per the general advice here. One thing I noticed, my provider recently switched source of streams upon which Z8 MOL2 asked me to download a codec. I did not get such prompt on GTV yet using the same provider. It could be that this codec or whatever MOL2 was sometimes asking to download was improving the picture quality - I don't know.

Also hard coding static IP on ethernet connections during GTV first launch was not the smartest idea I guess.

One thing I immediately noticed as well compared to Z8 is that GTV MOL2 is showing even 30% higher bitrate (pic) readings on the same channels / same provider.

Codecs are already integrated in gtv so no need to sideload.

apparently not good enough because a few chanels does not work as it should and that is clearly a codec problem.

I agree with you. GTV doesn't have all codecs installed since some channels don't work. Having same provider and watching same channel on Z8, Z8 fully shows the channel.

GTV is buggy and needs a fix...long due.

When will the update for GTV come?

When is Formuler going to build an 8k Android box with 120 hz 4K and a 60 hz 8k resolutie

From the end of the last year , 8k boxes began to appear .

guess The formuler teams will also be working on development with that .

They are constantly improving their box based on updating and customers needs.

I have a Formuler Z8 which works great for MOL2 and the very few streaming apps compatible.  

I’ve just bought a Formuler GTV for the possibility of using Google TV apps in addition to MOL2. But I am very disappointed.

The image is horrible, not clear. There are even some weird lines in areas of solid color (screenshots below). 

What is the problem? Can the device be defective? Or is it only a matter of software or image settings on the GTV?
