  • I got my new box Z11 Pro Max yesterday. All software updated (v11.2.6) and patched. Wired the device with the router. I am with Virgin 350 Mbps connection and Super Hub 3 Virgin (UK Connection, no VPN)

Added the IP provider Service URL in the content manager.

The VOD works fine. Freezing it's only in live TV not in VOD or series,. Whenever I watch sports channels or live tv, there are streaming issues and it just keeps hanging abruptly which is very frustrating.

i am not using VPN. Mostly on the default settings. IP Provider said there is no issue from his end, broadband speed is great as it is wired. I am puzzled if is this the Z11 issue or what? Earlier I used the Firestick 4K Max and I also noticed the issues with live channels so I thought that buying a Z11 will help but no change. The IP provider said I can try M524 box, he said he is not aware of such issues and the service works fine no one else complained in the UK so he cannot help.

Can someone please suggest what could be the issue here and help me resolve?

  • I would suggest NORD VPN,as it is often recommended by SAM in previous posts, i do not know if it is a free VPN.

I seems to work good on Formuler boxes.

  • You can get a 30-day free trial of ExpressVPN when you sign up using your Formuler device.

It's not the device that's the issue it's either your internet provider throttling your speeds or it's a rubbish service. If a VPN doesn't help change providers

  • Never use a free vpn, there’s no point whatsoever and you are fully limited to to about 500mb data download so it’s a waste of time.

If something is free then don’t expect your protection to be any good!

In reality, you’re paying so little for the amount of content you get, paying for a decent vpn is a small price to pay to protect you, your Iptv service and keep your broadband speeds at a decent level.

Personally I really don’t understand why anyone would ever consider not using a vpn with IPTV.

I have one good reason not to use vpn as my main iptv provider has builtin vpn,and states vpn is not necessarry.

However, i did get vpn for my seccond provider, as it gave me a lot of http 409 errors, which for the time being are solved, probably true the use of vpn.

The end user should use a vpn, they should always use a vpn.

No IPTV provider has a vpn server side so if a provider says they have, it’s complete and utter nonsense! Please don’t be fooled by what a provider or most likely a reseller tells you the end user.

What they do have is routing through server centres in most instances. Server / data centres then offer a certain level of security which protects their assets and as such is a bi-product for those who connect through the data centre.

However; the security as mentioned above is not a vpn product!

The costs involved to even attempt a vpn server side would be unsustainable for IPTV let alone keeping the service stability for end users with a server side vpn active.

Some actually advise not to use a vpn with their service because it will block your connection to them by messing with their “security” settings. That’s more for the low end market to hit that issue and isn’t quite common these days.

Some IPTV services use a proxy connection however that will slow down connections and is still not a vpn.

Some services even go one step further and that’s to have servers offshore and in countries where they have lax policies on piracy making it hard for satellite companies to enforce a ban

There are some amazing IPTV services out there than invest heavily in protecting their service and its stability but that is done by other means and not vpn server side

The best level of protection for the end user without any doubt 100% is to have their own vpn.

  • but why do you need a vpn then, I don't understand that

In first line to secure you and your connection! Second to sort some errors in routing and others, isp blocks of iptv, provider blocks from isp, etc. There are many reasons to use it. Adrilang explained this very well in his post. There is time or will come, where each user must use VPN for IPTV. ISP`s and some other institutions work on it to throttle , block where they can to save data throughput.

If some Provider doesn`t allow user VPN and the connection fails, then it`s only because this provider want real data from his user to control ip, region, country etc.

I recommend also to each user, to read so much as possible about VPN and to use it if possible.

  • It’s highly unlikely to be your virgin internet, I’ve been using virgin for 3 years with iptv with virtually 0 problems. I would look to getting a few trial subs from different suppliers and test them.

More than likely the provider you have now is pants

I don't use a VPN, but is that really necessary?
