Hello.

I’m finding Google Assistant just doesn’t work very well on GTV when it comes to Live tv channels. It only ever searches YouTube when you ask it to play a channel.

In fact it only searches YouTube for anything you try to find. It’s so frustratingly bad.

Can we have some confirmation from the Formuler team if this is actually meant to work or is it troublesome at the moment and a feature not yet fully supported.

I ask because as more people get these boxes they’ll be flooding the forum for help so this will be sure to give the answer they’re looking for.

Just tried here in (poor house Z8's only ) same gives me YouTube answers.

Is it supposed to channel change

It just said can't do that in this app, I said change channel to S..........

The GTV has an app called Live channels installed. You can also set the assistant to find results from mytvonline2 which is all set...

I’ve turned off searching YouTube and still no matter what you do it only ever searches YouTube.

In Google play store the live channels app suggests there should be additional menus for which I wanted to check to see if sections could be added or further advanced features however when the app is installed on the box no options are available except allowing assistant to search live tv channels...

Let’s hope SAM can advise or someone else who has it working.

I’ve even gone through the Google assistant app to try and link the gtv to the app on my phone to see if any additional settings are available but nothing....

Plays songs you ask for but again goes to Youtube. If I say what's on TV it goes to media storage

Like I said before I'm on Z8 I take it it says it will do more on GTV?

This from Google assistant dosen't say change channel ?

Entertainment (music, movies, TV, books & images)

Play music: "Play Macklemore" or "Play Can't Hold Us."

Identify a song: "What's this song?"

Find new music: "What songs do Mumford and Sons sing?"

Play a radio station from Google Play: "Play some music."

Watch a movie from Google Play: "Watch Frozen."

Learn about a TV show you're watching: "What's on TV?"

Read a book from Google Play: "Read Ender's Game."

Find a movie: "What movies are playing tonight?" or "Where's Hunger Games playing?"

Search for images: "Show me pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge."

Take a photo or video: "Take a picture" or "Record a video."

It should work with mytvonline.

It will launch the app to if you say launch mytvonline but that’s as far as it goes.

The live tv channels app also should work alongside Google assistant.

I think more so the problem is with Google assistant.

Strange though as mytvonline2 was auto enabled to allow Google assistant to read it?

Do you think it maybe the way providers name channels? just a thought

I says can't do it on Z8 so changing channel names would't help

I did consider that and tried various ways but no change.

I’ll keep trying but may give up with it soon unless Formuler can offer some details

Could be a mytvonline problem in that the assistant can’t read the info or it’s not compatible or optimised.

Hopefully Formuler can confirm once and for all of its compatible or not

and what about searching a movie on the MYTV VOD section ?

When i asked for a movie it does find the movie in another screen then MYTV but impossible play

That could you be a really good feature.

Hm, Google Assistant is with ATV 9.0 integrated into OS. I guess you already tested out what is possible and what not. I don`t think that this will work so perfect like you expect with integrated 3th. apps and in this case is MOL2 also 3th app.

Personally: Google Assistant and me are talking two different languages, it does never understand what i say

How ever will forward the request and ask if there will be some improvement in future update.

After extensive settings checking etc I managed to get Google Assistant to open MTOL2.... however it opened the app just twice and now doesn’t open it at all.

Weirdly the only way I managed at first to get it to work but hasn’t since.

Voice control to launch apps including MTOL2 then worked....

After 2 times it just stopped working and said GTV is not available right now...

Here is where it gets strange...

The command using voice assistant to open apps such as YouTube was: Launch YouTube and it did....

Now it doesn’t and only responds to Open YouTube 🤯 voice control within YouTube works.

I also tried it with a vpn incase it preferred USA location for all features.... set VPN to USA and oddly voice assistant doesn’t understand anything I say haha. Changed it back to UK server and or turned off the VPN and it recognised my voice without a problem...

Still however having an issue with assistant launching other apps instead of YouTube even though it’s enabled.

Maybe it's a google issue?

Launch is more American, open more UK English

already said google issue.

new box time is needed, I spent lots on a box years ago and didn't get a picture for 3 months worth every penny

Strange how yesterday it wouldn’t respond to open but would respond to launch and now it’s the other way round lol 😂

Still think Formuler have some work to do on it or should have made a disclaimer saying it doesn’t work properly or at all with MTOL2... I think it’s misleading to customer not to say anything at all. And so here we are

Or Google assistant needs some training?

Sadly not all providers have full epg and that can also be a problem
