I know this is a biased question but for IPTV will this box make any difference.
Easy answer, Z8 is top notch and for IPTV still the best box.

Dolby atmos Dolby ect

Dolby atmos Dolby ect
Which iptv does not support.

Since this is in the GTV section i would like opinions from people who have switched from Z8 to GTV. I am on the fence whether to buy this or not.
-
Right now at this moment i would stick with z8,just because Gtv its brand new box,in 3-4 months when updates fixes some major bugs gtv will be the box you want,I have z8 and gtv, using gtv more

For iptv does it really make a difference.

For iptv only it does not, they both run mytvonline2
-
It kinda makes a small difference, for example network drive recording is not an option yet on the GTV. Perhaps some other features to that are currently still missing

SOLUTION:
Get Both...
Better yet...
get a CC and GTV
EASY!

Hey all, looking to revive this thread.
kind of in a same dilemma to decide between Z8 pro and GTV. My only concern is to get the best IPTV experience. I'm leaning more towards GTV, only because of the Android TV OS and dolby support.
Are there still any unsolved issues with GTV?

Hey norton13, did you end up getting a GTV?

No. I was looking at the buzz units as well XRS4500. Will wait & see for now.

buzz xrs4500 also would be a good choice with a nice specs. however , Formuler has its own program MYTv Online, with a two years warranty. ( device , remote both)

Sam, can you elaborate on that a little bit? What are the main advantages for Z8 over GTV using IPTV. I'm choosing between the two and had made up my mind about the GTV when I read this.
I will use it around 80% for IPTV but also to play videos from a NAS and was leaning towards GTV for the added Dolby Support....and also since it was their latest model. From what I saw I really liked the GUI.

CC the latest model with tuner

What i can say is only, take the box where you think it matches your criteria and where you feel comfortable. Z8 is mature and use AOSP well programmed from Formuler but have issues with some apps, the MOL2 part works perfect . GTV is ATV and more for users who want to use many apps and use effort from MOL2. With time this box will become many features and each time be better and better. I like both boxes, because each of them have his own character. At moment i have new play box, the CC

Just some feedback on this thread. In the end I chose the Z8 Pro mainly due to that some people thought the image quality on MOL2 was better on the Z8 than the GTV.
I must say that I'm stunned by how good the Z8 Pro is. I had a Full HD TVIP box and could not believe how much better the picture quality is on the Z8 Pro....and I'm still running Full HD and not 4K as my receiver does not support this.
My second surprise was that the Z8 Pro runs Dolby DTS-HD without any problems. This was actually my main reason for wanting the GTV as I thought the Dolby support was added only on this model. For anyone looking at Formuler website where there's nothing stated, that I could find, about Dolby support on Z8 Pro it actually supports almost all Dolby audio formats except probably Atmos. Dolby Digital, DTS and DTS-HD works fine for me when using internal media player.
Dolby Digital works fine on MOL2 when, I guess, IPTV provider streams has it. For me mainly movies.

For the best picture quality with IPTV you should use a Linux box.

And why? Please explain the difference between some other linux box vs Formuler box with same iptv content.
-
The main reason is that you have advanced settings for setting up the best picture quality.
-
For the best picture quality with IPTV you should use a Linux box.
I do not believe this to be true . Linux boxes are very limited in their capabilites and no longer support new graphics or video-decoding technologies(with older boxes, anyway). Therefore , i would not recommend these type of boxes for most people moving forward.

We will not make this thread now off topic or long discussion from this, except we move this postings into new thread and continue, but what you telling here is to compare apple with pear, espec. when we talk about integrated chipset and GPU`s . I have few working Linux boxes (Sat., Cable and IPTV inside) and almost all Formuler boxes for watching and testing. So, compare between this boxes is for me normal and i do it often. What can we compare here, Sat. and Cable picture quality definitive not, only IPTV PQ. From all iptv boxes out there deliver Hisilicon chipset the best picture and with right PQ Settings calibration, the best what you can get with IPTV content. So much people doesn`t even know that deactivated "deep color control settings" on TV takes you away the opportunity on Formuler box to use other Video color space & HDMI deep color, just for example. To make it short, with good settings on TV, your Box and PQ Settings you will always have the best IPTV picture out there, of course depends always from used content.
Btw. I don`t understand why we start to speak at some point about Linux boxes when we compare GTV vs Z8? This makes the thread off topic and you know that "unknown"!

close thread Sam please

I like the GTV BT remote much better than Z8, I hated pin pointing to the device. Picture quality on iptv streams is better with Z8 no questions but let's see if Formuler can "iron this out". No WiFi external antenna on GTV (thankfully), the one on Z8 broke after few days (it became loose and did not stand up lol).
I would definitely not buy Z8 or Z8 Pro again with their dreadful IR remotes and mobile Android instead of Android TV.

I agree with you on the remotes being archaic
